About this listen

This is the fifth book in Ruth Roper Wylde's 'These Haunted Times' series, which are all full of people's own first hand accounts of their experiences with the supernatural. This time, however, Ruth has ventured 'across the pond' to talk to people all over America about what they have seen and heard — and just can't explain. From poltergeist type activity in their homes and workplaces, to weird encounters whilst out and about enjoying the great outdoors, the true accounts given here are both fascinating and troublesome. It's hard to fit any understanding of the supernatural into our busy, technological lives: and yet there it is, often staring us right in the face when we least expect it.

If we're lucky, the experience is heartwarming. If not, well, sit back, cuddle up, make sure the light is on and enjoy.....

This book was suggested from a podcast, The Dark Paranormal. The writer is from the UK. Through interviews she has compiled a number of American ghost stories.

It's worth a listen.
Just don't listen to it while crossing bridges. 😉

Another tour de force from prolific, and approachable author Ruth Roper Wylde. This is her 9th book, and first audiobook. Hopefully her back catalog gets audiobooks as well. Amazing narration by Brennan Storr, with an excellent foreword by Paul Bestall.

I learned about this through Brennan Storr's podcast Ghost Story Guys. He was a great choice of narrator and so enjoyed his reading. You'll hear a lot of familiar ghost tropes here (like the girl who gets killed walking back from prom after getting in a fight with her boyfriend and who now haunts the road where she died) but the author pushes past those to get to more substantial experiences from locals. She does a good job of researching each area to try and verify stories, which I very much appreciate.

Good collection of mostly first hand stories
