Fantastic Resource for Retirees

There is a tremendous need for this book. As a retiree who belongs to many Facebook groups, I frequently read about the angst many people feel after leaving a lifetime of work. Facebook participants throw out endless random suggestions, easily lost when scrolling on social media. Having a resource that brings together ideas with a plan of action can fill the gap as the number of retirees explodes in the next decade. This book contains a comprehensive source of ideas, many of which may not have been considered, such as mentoring, letter writing, blog creation, and memoirs. The variety of ideas and strategies is fantastic, and this book provides something for everyone, even those who are isolated and need more resources.

A carefully thought-out process with examples and details spelled out so the reader can take immediate action starts the reader on their path. SMART goals with a structured approach that builds slowly and is not overwhelming set the foundation. Volunteering is the number one suggestion made on Facebook, and this book guides the reader through a process to help identify how to become successful in volunteer and another work pursuits.

Building friends and connections with suggestions on successfully breaking into social circles and overcoming anxieties about meeting new people is an important topic. This is especially relevant for women as the number of women alive far exceeds the number of men as we age. For many women who have lived their entire adult lives as a couple, stepping out alone socially can be difficult.

The sections on technology and social media use are critical for this population. Access to the Internet can be life-changing, and learning how to navigate it is vital. Increasing and managing stress, anxiety, and depression in retirement pursuits is a consistent theme throughout the book. Safety and accessibility concerns are addressed, which are significant concerns for many readers. In addition to ideas on staying busy, excellent advice is given on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and nutrition.

I strongly recommend this book and believe every reader will find value in it and may experience life improvements.
