About this listen

A serial killer is on the loose and may have a hidden connection to young barrister Daniel Pitt's university days, in this intricately woven mystery from New York Times best-selling author Anne Perry.

A serial killer is roaming the streets of London, and Daniel Pitt's university chum Ian, now a member of the police, is leading the search. The murders are keeping his mind occupied, but when Ian learns that their old professor, Nicholas Wolford, has been charged with plagiarism, he takes the time to personally ask Daniel to defend their beloved teacher. For help catching who Londoners are now calling the Rainy Day Slasher, Ian also enlists Daniel's good friend Miriam fford Croft, now back from school and a fully qualified pathologist.

As the murders continue, Miriam can't help but notice inexplicable links that have been overlooked by Daniel and Ian. In their concern to defend their former professor, are the two university friends blind to a far worse crime that has been committed?

Wow. Again an amazing story! I truly am totally engaged in this series and so sad this is the last until Anne writes more!

Please hurry! Thank you for that ending! I think I will just listen to them all again to hear Samuel’ narration!!!

Having read some 30 of her novels, TDP had a surprise end that was so obvious upon reflection,
What a happy ending, from another point of view.

Ms. Perry at her best!

Typical Anne Perry

This latest foray into the world of Daniel Pitt is excellent. Even though there isn't as much courtroom drama as in the first four books, there's plenty of mystery and suspense, as well as growth in these wonderful characters. And I can't say enough about the exceptional narrator, Samuel Roukin. He has read all of the Daniel Pitt novels, and his delivery is smooth, with just enough subtle changes in the voices to ensure the listener knows who is speaking. This talented man's voice is amazing. Thoroughly enjoyable listening experience.

Another winner!

The stories and setting are vivid and interesting and the characters believable. I love this time period, full of possibilities and change. Often I solve the mystery before it is revealed (I knew who done it throughout the whole book this time), but that is okay. The author’s penchant for reviewing all of the possible explanations or outcomes or emotions was annoying to me in the first book or two but I enjoy it now. I am just sad that the next one is the last!

Loving this series!

The story overall was good but the end was extremely disappointing; unlike the majority of Anne Perry’s books. It needed another chapter to explain in more detail the “why” behind the killers target and motives. It felt as if the ending was rushed to make a deadline. Maybe the next Daniel Pitt book will give a brief explanation to explain it.

Disappointing End
