About this listen

Patience was not one of Belle Gregory's virtues. So when she finds herself lying flat on her back in the sand with a tone male body on top of her, she curses her loss of sight. But the doctors say she will see again, a fact that has Adam Parker very worried. He has no choice but to live with the damage done to his face by a roadside bomb more than a year ago, but can Belle? Or will she see only the scars and not what's in his heart?

Classic scarred hero

What did you love best about Through Your Eyes?

How relatable Adam and Belle are. I was once temporarily blind when my corneas blistered, so I identified with Belle's fears and uncertainties.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Through Your Eyes?

I loved it when they smacked into each other. Perfect way for a blind woman to meet the love of her life.

Which character – as performed by Ellen B. Gralick – was your favorite?

Belle but Dee's a close second

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

She can't see him, and he doesn't want to be seen.

Any additional comments?

This is a gem of a story, and well-balanced in every way.

Heartwarming story

The narrator expressed perfectly this cute story about a woman, who temporarily lost her eyesight, meeting a man disfigured by a bomb while serving in the Army.

A Sweet, Snack-sized Beach Romance

If you could sum up Through Your Eyes in three words, what would they be?

Short, sweet, romance

What was one of the most memorable moments of Through Your Eyes?

Hearing how Belle - without the use of her eyes - experienced the beach and her time with Adam.

What about Ellen B. Gralick’s performance did you like?

Ellen put a lot of emotion behind her narration; however, I would have liked Ellen's male characters to have deeper voices. But that's just a preference of mine.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not to give too much away, but... there was a sweet happily ever after, where both Belle and Adam realized that they saw each other through the eyes of love.

Any additional comments?

This was the perfect "read" to listen to while I prepared dinner - a nice way of having a little "me" time.

A Short buy Poignant Romance

I was especially moved by the circumstances surrounding both Adam and Belle. I admit I warmed to Adam's character a lot quicker than I did Belle's. However, as they both learned to trust and love again, I could easily see them as a couple.

Author Jo Barrett has packed a lot of story into a small, but rewarding package.

Sweet but short

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I was surprised there was no chapter designation although the narrator did pause at various parts.

Would you recommend Through Your Eyes to your friends? Why or why not?

I think most of my friends would prefer a longer book

Which character – as performed by Ellen B. Gralick – was your favorite?

There was little distinction between the characters by the narrator, although she did a good job in conveying emotion

Do you think Through Your Eyes needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It would be nice to see how the characters continue to grow and strengthen as a couple

Great short story

I knew this was a short story so was prepared for it to not be long. However, I found it was an enriched story that had everything needed for a good romance. Two damaged people who are afraid to face the world head on find a way to help each other heal. I liked the characters, the lovely beach setting, and the sweet story. The narrator was good, doing an effective job of differentiating characters and providing just the right amount of suspense. I enjoyed it so much I listened to it twice. I was given a copy of this book to review.
