Publisher's summary

In the volatile tinderbox of the Horn of Africa, Morgan Adler has made the paleoanthropological find of a lifetime. The discovery brings her to the attention of a warlord eager to claim both Morgan and the fossils, forcing her to make a desperate dash to the nearby US military base to beg for protection.

Master Sergeant Pax Blanchard has orders to intercept Dr. Adler before she reaches the base, and in so doing saves her life. After a harrowing afternoon, he safely delivers her to his commanders, only to find his responsibilities toward protecting the obstinate archaeologist have only just begun. Morgan and Pax are forced to work together in the Djiboutian desert heat, but it is the fire that ignites between them that threatens to combust them both. For the Green Beret, involvement with the woman he must protect is a threat to his career, while for the archaeologist, the soldier is everything she never wanted but somehow can't resist. When Morgan uncovers a mystery surrounding Djibouti's most scarce and vital resource, the danger to her reaches the flashpoint. For Pax, protecting her is no longer a matter of following orders, and he'll risk everything to bring her back alive.

Greatest Audio Book I Listened to in a Long Time

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
My first time I was moved to write an actual review
An excellent intelligent timely story and great audio experience in a long long time. I recommend this audio book to any listener. Interested to broaden their geopolitical knowledge with a bit of romance. The story gave me a new appreciation for the plights of political and humanitarian issues. I love this AUTHOR and will listen to more of her books.

I'm a believer!

Rachel Grant had me hooked within the first paragraph. Her grasp of dialog and her stunningly accurate insight to several branches of the military suck you in immediately along with her plot dips and turns. Best book I've heard in FOREVER. Fan for life.

Falling for a Foul-mouthed Fairy?

I really enjoyed enjoyed listening to this intriguing, character based military romance set in Djibouti, a region in the volatile tinderbox of the Horn of Africa.

Featuring two seemingly different people coming together in the midst of danger.

Morgan Adler has made the paleoanthropological find of a lifetime. A discovery that puts her at odds with a dangerous warlord, corrupt officials, a possible traitor, the Chinese and not least her General Father.

To survive she will need to put her trust in the US military and one seriously hot Green Beret, Master Sergeant Pax Blanchard and his team.

Forced to work together these two opposing forces generate more heat than the Djiboutian desert.

Can a foul-mouthed fairy who hates rules find it in her heart to follow a man sworn to do his duty, always. Can they find a common middle ground and in the process a love that will last a lifetime. Of course they can but to get there is a thoroughly enjoyable roller-coaster of a ride.

I love the realness!

Although I love Romantic Suspense books, I don't like it when the situations are glossed over and romanticized. Rachel Grant has a way of dealing with the harsh realities of bad situations that is realistic, though not always easy to listen to or read. I love how she explores problems in different environments and new to me occupations and love learning new things. I have to say I just love her books period.

what a great kickass heroine

Fast paced action and great characters. There is also suspense and the sort of urgency that makes you listen straight through to the end.
