About this listen

Tine to Table is a fascinating look at white-tailed deer hunting and wild-game cooking through the eyes of a wildlife biologist, veteran traditional bowhunter, and award-winning author.

Filled with powerful hunting stories, insightful how-to information, and rock-solid recipes. The lessons on hunting, butchering, cooking, wildlife conservation, and even raising outdoor kids are so thoroughly woven into the stories that it's easy to forget you're learning. In a chapter titled, "The Meat that Made America," Rohrbaugh uncovers the important role that white-tailed deer played in shaping the history of our nation, from defining Native American culture to influencing the outcome of the Civil War. As a bonus, each chapter ends with a favorite venison recipe that will convert even the most skeptical newcomer to wild game.

So I first found this author through echo book 1. My son and I loved it as an audiobook. We are now doing book 2 as a read aloud. I got curious what else he has written and found this. It’s been a nice listen about family and ethical hunting. I grew up on a farm where we raised our own meat cows, but have never hunted. I do sincerely enjoy when a hunter sends a bit of venison my way though.
As I’m listening to this book I’ve been trying to think of ways to learn, and who may mentor me… will I actually do it? I’m not sure, but i am considering it.
My son and I are outdoorsy and these are the values I want to impart to him. I very much appreciate these books to help normalize this lifestyle for my son. I have been recommending the heck out of the kids series and about to do the same with this one. Signed an outdoorsy homeschooling Mom.

I appreciate the author’s perspective
