Publisher's summary

From master storyteller and New York Times-bestseller Tad Williams comes the third book in the landmark epic fantasy saga of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn.

Tad Williams introduced audiences to the incredible fantasy world of Osten Ard in his internationally bestselling series Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. The trilogy inspired a generation of modern fantasy writers, including George R.R. Martin, Patrick Rothfuss, and Christopher Paolini, and defined Tad Williams as one of the most important fantasy writers of our time.

BOOK THREE: TO GREEN ANGEL TOWER

The evil minions of the undead Sithi Storm King are beginning their final preparations for the kingdom-shattering culmination of their dark sorceries, drawing King Elias ever deeper into their nightmarish, spell-spun world.

As the Storm King’s power grows and the boundaries of time begin to blur, the loyal allies of Prince Josua struggle to rally their forces at the Stone of Farewell. There, too, Simon and the surviving members of the League of the Scroll have gathered for a desperate attempt to unravel mysteries from the forgotten past.

For if the League can reclaim these age-old secrets of magic long-buried beneath the dusts of time, they may be able to reveal to Josua and his army the only means of striking down the unslayable foe....

After the landmark Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy, the epic saga of Osten Ard continues with The Heart of What Was Lost. Then don’t miss the sequel trilogy, The Last King of Osten Ard, beginning with The Witchwood Crown!

Masterful wondrous story!

Read this series long ago and enjoyed it then. Listening to it on Audible was a treat. The voice performance was nothing short of amazing. Loved it.

I saw the end coming and it made me sad

This would have been a three star story due to what seems to me to be a contrived ending... the climax was not hinted at well enough for me. I wasn't a fan of certain character motivations. The main character Simon doesn't play as big of a role as I would have liked and some seems with him seemed just a little too creepy for me (not scary... just a little gross). I expected this story to wrap up much like Brandon Sanderson's stories do, and in some ways it did. There are some very strong emotional punches at the end that bring this up to a four star story for me. If you enjoyed book one and two, there is no reason not to finish out the series. You won't regret it.

Long, but worse all the time I put into it.

I must say even though I reviewed it very highly I have mixed feelings. It was long and seemed that way at times , it had a great payoff at the end. I won't give anything away but I cried and it was well worth listening to the entire trilogy for those few minutes.

great series slightly disappointing finish

The series took me a few tries to get invested but it was worth it. I really enjoyed it overall. My major problem was the ending was really nearly tied up with a bow. I prefer my endings a little bit messier and darker I guess... more like real life, less like fairy tale. It's just a personal preference. Overall, the series is well worth the 3 credits and the hours listening.

Incredibly satisfying

I don’t often write reviews, though I passionately appreciate many. I found nothing wanting in the entire series. Characters, plot, world, excitement, beauty and a satisfying conclusion. Marvelous narration and distinctive voices for the many characters were next level.
