Publisher's summary

Zoe doesn’t trust men easily. So when she heads to the remote backwoods of Yosemite on a horse tour with her new boyfriend— Mike— it’s a major step in their relationship. But when a stalker with a connection to Mike’s past follows them through the wilderness, killing members of their party, the trip suddenly becomes a game of survival. As new information about Mike’s past is revealed, Zoe begins to wonder if she can really trust the man she dared to brave the wild with.

Just when Zoe is ready to press Mike for details about his mysterious past, Mike is kidnapped by the stalker, who leaves behind a series of clues as to his whereabouts. Zoe decides to follow the twisted scavenger hunt in order to rescue Mike, and is taken on a death-defying survival journey through the backwoods of Yosemite, forced to rely on no-one— but herself.

As Zoe survives in the wild alone, she learns that trust comes not just from what’s within others, but from what’s within us. Can Zoe survive the wilderness, and rescue Mike? And if she does rescue him… will their relationship survive the secrets of his past?

Fan's of Liane Moriarty, Shari La Pena, and Lucy Foley will love this empowering, fast-paced, thriller!

Entertaining

It started off good but it stalled a bit in the middle, the narration was good and helped the story’s pace a lot.

Very suspenseful

When Zoey started describing what she learned about herself through therapy, for a second I thought the book was about me! This story is about a woman who dug deep inside and became a stronger version of herself who fights for the love of her life. I loved the development of Zoey, all her self-reflection. This does have some spiritual elements, I’m not a fan of that, but the story was suspenseful and thrilling enough for those parts not to bother me. And Molly, she’s my favorite part of the story! The twists were unpredictable!

Fun and suspenseful!

I had so much fun listening to this book. It was the right amount of thrill and suspense! I loved being immersed in Yosemite and there were so many relatable, truthful moments in Zoe’s inner thoughts.

The story moves fast and I love that it’s a woman saving a man, instead of the usual other way around trope. I’m looking forward to the next book.
