About this listen

Rachel Moore will get fired if she doesn't come back to New York with an exclusive about Rio de Janeiro.

Standing in her way and bullying her for her curves is supermodel Chantal.

But her hot, Brazilian tour guide, Otavio, tells her curves are admired in Brazil.

Rachel is challenged to get out of her comfort zone and dance at the samba school and carnival, and perform a striptease at a bachelorette party.

Will Rachel be able to let go of her past and embrace the body-positive view?

Rebecca S.: “Wow! Couldn’t put it down and loved every minute of it!”

Book Pipeline: “The Brazilian backdrop here feels filmic and the message of empowerment we see in Rachel’s arc is one that feels timely and commercially viable.”

The AI performance: it was definitely noticeable that the performance was not a human, but the story is so good I still enjoyed listening. The lack of vocal differences among characters was noticeable in occasionally confusing, and there were some obvious and sometimes comical mispronunciations.

But the story:
I often read stories that make me laugh and cry, make me fall in love, that engage me completely in the moment. I often read stories that leave me wanting more and more. It's a rare pleasure to read stories that achieve all these goals while also propelling me to consider life, philosophy, and my view of the world. Travel Secrets did it all.

The beautiful weaving of Rachel/Raquel's story kept me not only engaged throughout the book but also touched me so deeply I felt I was in the story, that I could actually be her. Instead of simply being drawn into a story, I was drawn into an individual. Knowing her fears, understanding her thoughts, and glorifying in her growth as a person. The artful first-person telling offered a seamless experience of a woman who finds her strength and femininity. It reminds us that embracing our masculinity and femininity can help us to find strength, success, and happiness.

Travel Secrets offers many surprises and thoughtful moments. It tackles important issues in today's society like commonly narrow views of body image and sex and inspires us to step outside our own comfort zones. Rachel's story of a different culture, of seeing the world through very different eyes, and growing through her experience cannot help but inspire. I cannot wait to see her story continue.

An amazing different approach to romance
