About this listen

Vengeance consumes her life. Love would risk it all.

Maddie Baker has spent years seeking vengeance against the abuser who destroyed her life. When her search leads her to a small town outside Atlanta, she learns of another missing teenager. Nothing will stand in the way of her mission, including a jackass of an ex-soldier who reawakens emotions best left to die.

Jack Quinn learned to recognize trouble in the Marines, and he sees it in Maddie the minute he lays eyes on the pretty, sexy bartender. Her secrets may be hidden deep, but secrets are his specialty, and peeling away her barriers only makes him want her more. He’ll do whatever it takes for her to trust him, with her body and her heart.

Staying hidden kept Maddie safe, but the search for justice brings her into the open and face-to-face with her treacherous past. Risking her life is one thing, but risking her heart is another. In both, she must trust Jack to lead her—and pray they both come out alive.

Hooked

I really like this series and will be reading Gabes book next. But I'll say book one is still my favorite so far. Con & Jess were epic ❤️

Ella's narrations are always next level!!

A dark and cruel past has had Maddie Baker on the run for over four years. A search for answers leads her right into the arms of the one man who has the potential to ruin her or save her.

I've read several Ella Sheridan books but this one just hit differently. Maddie was so strong. She had to be. It was either that or let the events of her past drown her in fear and heartache. As her road leads her closer to the answers, she seeks she comes face to face with Jack Quinn. A man unlike any other he refuses to let her do this on her own. How can she trust him when she doesn't even trust herself anymore? The choices she made all those years ago caused people to die. When most people would have shattered, Maddie kept going on her search for answers, but she doesn't have any answers when it comes to Jack.

As Maddie and Jack are constantly in one another's orbit there is no denying the connection they have. Will Maddie be able to let go of her past and work with Jack on finding the answers she seeks not only for those that still need saving but also for herself.

Jason Clarke people. If you have not listened to a Jason Clarke narration you are seriously missing out. His accents and the passion he puts into his narrations are unlike anything I have ever from any other narrator. I am always dragged into the story he is telling and when you have him and Stella Hunter you know that narration is going to be nothing short of spectacular. The fire that Stella put into Maddie was just perfection to the character that she was portraying, and I was entranced from start to finish.

If you are a fan of romantic suspense with all the feels, then you really need to check out Ella Sheridan. She tells a story in a way that is so unique to any other author I have read before.

Loved the story, characters, narration.

Trust Me, written by Ella Sheridan
Southern Nights Book 2
Narrated in Duet by Jason Clarke & Stella Hunter
Although this is the 2nd book in the series it can be read as a standalone.
Maddy tends bar at a honky tonk country bar near Atlanta and Jack is a retired Marine running a security company who frequents that same honky tonk.
The come together when Maddy’s abusive past and the search for a missing young woman connect. Maddy’s resistance to reveal her past and Jacks persistence to dig in deep create heat and drama, but together they forge a path to redemption and reunion for all.
There are sexy scenes and plenty of drama and mystery to keep the listener engaged, and Jason Clarke & Stella Hunter’s performances are top notch. There is no cliffhanger other than the lead in to the next book in the series, so we get our happy ever after.

Suspense/romance

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced listening copy of this book.
Let me start out by saying there is some dark subject matter that may be difficult for some readers/listeners but it totally ties into the story and gives the characters their backstories. Maddie comes across as a strong, independent woman but she is running from a very dark past. When she crosses paths with Jack she is not prepared for the emotions that he invokes.
This book is a fantastic mix between romance and suspense. The drama and danger that surround Maddie and Jack will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very last chapter.

Potential book boyfriend

Trust Me is book 2 and standalone in the Southern Nights series. I’m a new fan of Ella Sheridan. Her attention to detail helps imagine the story in your mind, and the suspense keeps you at the edge of your seat. The spice is HAWT. I received an ALC in return for an honest review.

Jack has potential to be a new book boyfriend. Under that gruff exterior, there’s a softer side he shows Maddie. Protective and patient. Add Jason Clarke’s gravelly tone, and he’s *chef’s kiss*. He’s so good at voicing the villain character as well.

Maddie is a strong heroine who keeps her guard up. With the help from Jack, she learns to trust and fight the demons from her past. Stella Hunter is fantastic at showcasing Maddie’s strength and vulnerable sides.

If you enjoy strong heroines taking a stand, and a sexy hero who knows how to take care of his lady in and out of the bedroom, this is the book for you!

Definitely suspense

OK it's been a long time since I've gotten into suspense I've just slowly now have started listening to it again and I can say that Ella has gone up to one of my top. Her stories definitely have me sitting on the edge of my seat which is what it's a spent story I guess should do. And Jason Clark and Stella hunter well, As far as I'm concerned they can do no wrong they elevate a story like no other I love Jason's growley voice in this and Stella hunter she is definitely becoming one of my top female voices I love to listen to. Both narrators extremely talented. This story definitely has suspense it's got everything you want in a good suspense Story I highly recommend. I will say you need to read up it could have some triggers for some people but I definitely loved it.

Suspenseful, sexy, steamy!

Maddie is on the run from a terrible past. From the very beginning her strength bleeds through the page in Stella’s performance. She is strong and fiercely determined on her path, but deeply scarred from her prior trauma. That makes her even more complex and beautiful. Jack is a genius hacker who is ex-military. He is a little lost in the beginning, but he recognizes something special in Maddie as they continue to collide. His protective instincts drive him to get to know her and he recognizes all of the fragility and strength. He is patient and persistent in his pursuit and refuses to give up when she shuts down. It’s painful and beautiful with all the feels when mutual respect, powerful attraction, and the drive to protect others complicate their fledgling relationship…all in the midst of a suspenseful mystery with time running out and some truly evil men at the heart of it all. I’ve really enjoyed this series with some exciting twists and turns!

As for narration, it should be no surprise that Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter in duet are amazing! This book has some difficult emotional situations and very different characters with varying ages, accents, and emotional baggage that are performed to perfection by both of them. When Jason voices the bad guy I had CHILLS and it made my skin crawl - it was THAT good! Of course, Jason and Stella bring us the beautiful narration we know and love in romance with all of the steamy goodness and the growly awesomeness we know and love from these two. Excellent casting and kudos to the production & editing people as well.

Action packed and thrilling with lots of steam!

“Trust Me” is an action packed, steamy and thrilling story that had a suspenseful storyline that had me hooked from the very beginning.

Maddie Baker has been on the run from her abusive husband for four years. She ends up in a small town and meets Jack Quinn while tending bar. Maddie has sworn off any relationships because of her past but Jack sees something in Maddie that he can’t quite let go of. Former military, the need to help and protect her overpowers him. As they get to know and trust each other, the past Maddie was trying to escape comes back.

Maddie and Jack’s story was amazing and captivated me. I loved the vulnerability of Maddie and Jack. Maddie had been through a horrible past and was still trying to help others when she could. And her need for vengeance against her ex was admirable and I couldn’t wait for her to get him. Jack wasn’t afraid to show his feelings and that was my favorite thing about him. He wanted Maddie to know she was cherished and that he was going to be her support when she needed it the most. And the protective side had me fanning myself. Nothing like a former Southern Marine. The added suspense of the story was great and I loved reading about Maddie and Jack trying to take down the bad guys.

Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke were amazing in this audiobook. I loved both of their Southern accents and could listen to them all day. Jason Clarke brought the extra gruff to his Jack voice and my oh my, it was perfect. Stella’s performance was off the charts amazing and she portrayed every emotion Maddie went through perfectly

Wildcat indeed!

If you thought Take Me was hot, grab an iced cold drink and hydrate before listening to Trust Me! I am absolutely loving the Southern Nights series. Once again, Ella Sheridan masterfully blends suspense, action, humor, and romance.

I fell in love with Jack and Maddie from the get go. Maddie is a warrior and an unapologetically sassy spitfire to Jack's brooding, calm, still waters run deep personality. Even though Maddie fights the instant attraction because of the deep wounds and scars she carries, Jack's patience and understanding slowly allow her to feel empowered and take back control over her sexuality. Jack is the epitome of consent being SEXY!!!

Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke were THE perfect choices to bring Jack and Maddie to life. I completely broke down and bawled during Stella's performance of Maddie telling her story and the horrors she endured. There were several other times she had me crying and my heart breaking for Maddie. Jason was no less emotionally charged and brilliant as Jack and had me tearing up. Hell yeah, the steam was off the charts as usual. But, I also truly appreciate the stunning range and talent these actors have and why I have become an audiobook junkie.
