About this listen

Garrick Rodenheiser crashed, burned, and found a second chance when he crawled away from the wreckage of his life four years ago. And while he hasn't exactly escaped his past, he's kept it far enough away. Until trouble in the form of a rain-soaked, bleeding woman comes banging on the door of his remote cabin. True, she doesn't look like a reporter. But the word trust simply isn't in Garrick's vocabulary anymore.

Crossword puzzle creator Leah Gates has a few words of her own for her reluctant savior: adamantine, irresistible. She isn't sure if it's cabin fever, loneliness, or just plain fate that drew them so magically together. But she does know that falling in love is the easy part. Trusting the future is a different challenge entirely.

Likable

12 Across was predictable, but pleasant. It's definitely a "romance" and not so much suspense - thank you. A lot of the novels now have too much suspense in order to tell the story. I just want a true romance novel - this one was good.

Life, Love, & 2nd Chances

A great story about two people, who feared being with another person, meet & quickly realize they're just right for each other.

Disappointing way to treat a favorite book.

I adore Twelve Across. I have had it for more than ten years and have repeatedly read it. I’m new to audiobooks and have been looking up favorites so I was excited to see this older book in audio form. The reading time seemed pretty short but the description didn’t say abridged so I bought it. It is most definitely edited and very much harmed in the process! It’s a short book. Why would you edit it? Why would you leave it so one character disappears for virtually the whole book? Why would you leave out a key plot point at the climax of the book? It doesn’t flow right even if you don’t know what’s missing.
As to the narration, all the voices are very good except the male lead. Leah’s voice is perfect but Garrick sounds really bad.
This is a one time listen and that makes me very sad.

Idiotic

Unless this book was written by a 12 year old - it's an embarassment. Two people meet, fall in love, and have a baby. The male lead is a recovering alcoholic and the feminine lead had a controling first husband - that's it for dramatic tension. It's jaw-droppingly bad.

Boring

Typical predicted hallmark movie. I usually like her books; however, this is the worst book I’ve listened to.
