About this listen
Samantha needs a new heart. But that means someone else must die to save her life. On her 16th birthday, she goes into a coma. Her parents hope they can find a donor in time to save her life.
Reese and his wife Bette are on their way to the airport for a trip to London for the holiday. A car hit their car on Bette's side, knocking her out. She never regains consciousness even after the paramedics arrive. Once they arrive at the hospital, Reese must make the decision to take his wife off life support and donating her organs. He's devastated and now all alone to take care of his infant daughter.
Samantha and Reese's lives intertwine when his daughter is taken to the hospital ten years later. They meet and there is an instant spark between them.
Will their lives change once they find out how much of their attachment is real? Or will love connect their two hearts?

The epitome of love and strength
I don't remember the last time I used the audio book experience but was so utterly glad that I did for this masterpiece of emotions. Gardner's narration and ability to not only take on each character's voice but their personality as well was brilliant. Fowler chose the perfect narrator for this piece!
Without giving away the major plot (even character names can do that) I will say that this book is a " must have". I have not read anything with this much heart ( pun intended) in a very long time. the story is not just your basic beginning, middle, and end but gives you deeper connection to the character's psyche as each chapter has a particular character with their point of view. I found myself enraptured with the characters; cheering them on, crying with them, making my own predictions and not wanting the book to end.The irony incorporated with the heart was beautiful, intricate and done so tastefully. Fowler did it again: she captured our hearts with character's we could befriend and make a part of our lives. So many invaluable lessons learned here and a book that I highly recommend, especially the audio book version. I would definitely have a tissue or two nearby . Bravo!
