Dans ce livre audio construit en triptyque, Jean d'Ormesson observe une société en constante mutation et où les anciennes catégories s'entrechoquent, comme l'illustre l'histoire en forme de parabole de ce bouddhiste milliardaire et communiste que l'amour confronte à une famille traditionnelle. Tout change, sauf peut-être l'amour, s'il est bien ce sentiment qui fait que deux êtres, au lieu de s'abîmer dans une contemplation mutuelle, regardent ensemble dans la même direction. Et aussi le tenace "espoir de Dieu", dont ni la science ni la philosophie n'ont eu raison dans le cœur des hommes. Un livre audio profond mais jamais obscur, et porté par ce goût du bonheur qui anime toute l'œuvre de Jean d'Ormesson.

My own opinion

I admire the spirit and intelligence of Jean d’Ormesson, his refined irony which in this book transforms at times in a certain bitterness.
He has an absolute domination of the French language.
It’s the legacy of a bon vivant who clearly sees the end approaching.
I think this book, if you like the author is a must.
