About this listen
Lucy is a human. Boring. Normal. She has no idea that the supernatural world exists outside of fairy tales and myth. But when a demon attacks her in her home, she learns that the monsters from myth are real. She is taken in by a shadow organization, known as the Guardian Elite, a demon slaying organization almost as old as civilization itself. When it becomes apparent that her demon problem won’t be easily solved, she is put under the protection of one of the organization’s strongest members.
Sebastian is an angel/demon hybrid. An Abomination. An outcast. For thousands of years, he has warred with his dual natures. Desperately trying to maintain the balance within himself. Killing demons was the only thing that gave him purpose. Even when the world turned their backs on him, he stood between humanity and the demons that would corrupt them. Until Lucy.
She’s a job. A distraction. Even as he attempts to keep her at arm’s length, he finds himself drawn to her. His demon half wants to possess her. His angel half craves her heart. But there’s a powerful demon on the loose, one that will stop at nothing to capture her. Will he be able to stop the demon? Or will Lucy provide too much of a distraction?

Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Multifaceted World
First, I was to say that the narrators did a wonderful job of bringing the story to life. I have been waiting for the opportunity to read this book for a while now, and I’m so glad I waited for the audio. Also, Evie Black created a very multifaceted world within our world. There is a cohesive connection between the real environment and the mystical one that held true throughout the story. I enjoyed it very much!

my dark heart
I love this author.
she writes characters without the sugar coating that get called on their shit.
Sebastian has a ton of life trauma being what he has been told is an abomination but he continues to fight the good fight anyway and keeps to.himself until he has to help save a woman who won't allow his grumpy and distant disposition just pass by.
she is being hunted by a demon and has her extremely hard moments in life
the way these characters test everything they know equally was literary perfection
the narrators did an amazing job with the very diverse personalities of the characters and kept me in the moment from beginning to end.
the spice in it is spicin and I will be a forever fan of Evie

Andrea and Matt did an amazing job on the narration and keeping the readers wanting more. Great job guys!

DNF...super upset (possible spoilers)
I really tried to like the audio of this book, but just kept coming up empty. The audio speed of the FMC and the MMC were off. Like they didn't match, one would be too fast, and another, too slow. I was constantly adjusting the speed. I also don't agree with the 3rd party narration. It gets grating.."he said, he said, he thought," yada yada, you get it. Then there are multiple narrators but only one love interest. I get multiple main charcters, but this seems EXTENSIVE.
