About this listen

Throughout his distinguished and unconventional career, engineer-turned-molecular-biologist Douglas Axe has been asking the questions that much of the scientific community would rather silence. Now he presents his conclusions in this brave and pioneering book. Axe argues that the key to understanding our origin is the "design intuition" - the innate belief held by all humans that tasks we would need knowledge to accomplish can be accomplished only by someone who has that knowledge. For the ingenious task of inventing life, this knower can only be God.

Starting with the hallowed halls of academic science, Axe dismantles the widespread belief that Darwin's theory of evolution is indisputably true, showing instead that a gaping hole has been at its center from the beginning. He then explains in plain English the science that proves our design intuition scientifically valid. Lastly, he uses everyday experience to empower ordinary people to defend their design intuition, giving them the confidence and courage to explain why it has to be true and the vision to imagine what biology will become when people stand up for this truth.

Overall was a great read which can equip everyone (regardless of technical skills) to tackle the difficult question regarding the origin of all life. In this book, technical science is only complementary, but plain logic and common sense reign supreme which allows anyone, regardless of background, to follow his points and come to his conclusions.

Axe uses plain logic to prove a powerful point!

Articulated with great clarity. Axe makes a compelling case against Macro-evolution and instead for ID, utilizing fantastic examples from the natural world to illustrate his point.

Axe challenges his readers to trust their own innate intuitions as we look upon the overwhelming appearance of design in biology, not because of intellectual laziness or an a priori commitment to the Devine, but because of the absurdity of the alternative, which can be nothing more than a product of chance that has somehow managed to overcome quite literally impossible odds.

Accessable, yet thorough.

This is a wonderful examination of life’s origins, refreshingly free of cliches. An inspiring appreciation of what it means to be created with purpose.

Probably could have trimmed a chapter or 2, but very well said. I've been asking Darwinist democrats why monkeys never evolved; for years now, with no legit response. Think I'll buy them this book. "Fantastically Improbable"

Good point easy to follow a bit draw out

"What if Science was meant to be like geocaching on steriods? What makes finding a well concealed geocache so delightful is not just the sense of having found something that was hard to find...but the sense of having found something that was both meant to be found and cleverly made hard to find. The beach comber with the metal detector out does the geocacher in terms of monetary gain, but the geocacher comes away with something that is much more valuable than lost change and jewelry; the geocacher comes away with a connection to others who are unseen but tangibly sensed and appreciated. Another of those beautiful moments when one person uses his or her inner world to move the outer world in a special way for the express purpose of touching another. "

loved this quote and the way he proceeded through his thoughtful argument.

5 stars all around.

A no-nonsense guide to utilizing our intuitive understanding as a gauge to deduce truth of scientific claims. Excellent work.

This book by Douglas Axe was such a joy to read that I would start over again and I just finished reading it. It is clear and very informative. It helps me understand more and more how defend the glory of biology without conforming to the flag of materialism and Neo-Darwinism.

Evidence has no bias.
