Publisher's summary

"If you're so concerned about my humanity, Elena, then reach into my soul and find it, because I'm not sure I have any left."

According to the FBI, I was considered a serial murderer after three kills.

What do they call me after fifty-two?

They call me the Silencer.

One final bullet would have been all it took to stop me from taking another soul, and I would have been doing Meridian City a service by pulling that trigger.

An angel crying for help stopped me, and that night, I took three lives for her. Then three turned into eight. Then eight turned into twenty. Twenty turned into twenty-one. Twenty-one turned into twenty-three.

Elena Young is the hero in my story, but I’m the villain in hers.

And this is the kind of story where the villain gets the girl, even if it kills her.

This is a dark romance novel intended for mature listeners only. Please check trigger/content warnings. This book does not have an HEA.

Tragically beautiful

Ariel Anderson writes the most beautiful words. Lee a new narrator to me did a phenomenal job bringing Elana to life. The raw emotion in this story can be felt. Joe Arden this might be the best performance I’ve ever heard from him. This book will forever be one of my favorite stories. Thank you

Holy whiplash!!

First and foremost-I’ve written maybe two reviews EVER. This is the second one. As I was listening I kept thinking how I was going to write a review and title it “There are not enough eye roll emojis” because parts of it were just like “Fifty Shades of Grey” and I was so put off by how ridiculous those parts were. HOWEVER…the end!? I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. WOW. Also, the performances were amazing and the story kept getting better - many twists and turns. So, if you start listening and feel like I initially did, stick it out! It’s worth it.

Incredible, Just Incredible

How is this a debut novel?! Ariel knocked it out of the park with this story. It’s intense, it’s sweet, it’s deranged, it’s everything you could ever ask for in a dark romance. The fact that it doesn’t end in an HEA only enhances how absolutely brilliant this book is.

The audio performance of Joe Arden and Lee Daniels can only be described as next level. They are a perfect match in meeting each other emotion for emotion. They truly make you feel what these characters are going through. I can imagine no better voice actors for this book than the two that were chosen. Just fantastic.

This story, these characters, they are going to stay with me for a very long time.

Incredible story and Amazing Performance by narrators.

This story will stick with me for a long time. I’m so emotional over fictional characters, that’s when you know the writing is good. Joe was AMAZING as always. Still ugly crying as a write this.

One of the best audibook performances I’ve ever heard

Joe Arden is hands down the most talented narrator. This audiobook was 10/10 and had me crying while listening. This was a gut wrenching tragic love story without a happy ending and a wild ride. I am so impressed with the intricacy of this story and the deep character development considering it’s her debut novel. Just wow. I will now need to focus on my emotionally recovery and book hangover.

I just needed a hug after this

"Do you believe in soulmates?"

I am emotionally distressed. I cannot even express how much this book had me f-d up. I had to talk about it with my sister. I was shocked. She was shocked. I... I needed a hug after reading this book. I've never had a more violent reaction after reading a book than what I felt with Under Your Scars and I've read some dark, graphic, and messed up books. I sobbed. I wanted to throw up. I wanted to reach into the book and just hold sweet baby Caroline because she deserved so much better than the hand life gave her. She's only four *crying* This book is not about her but her tragic story begins here, with her foster parents, Christian and Elena.

Christian and Elena's story is fast-paced. You will get a lot of their relationship in 62 chapters, including the prologue and epilogue. Within the struggles the author was going through in real life, she managed to pull and write a bittersweet story. Christian and Elena were exceptional. I loved them so much. Elena is a strong MC who always finds out how to navigate whatever lemons life throws at her.

And Christian... The Silencer... well, they're complex characters that for their own reasons lure you in. Christian has that rich, billionaire charisma that every reader will love. He loves to spoil Elena with anything she wants, even if she only jokes about it. The Silencer -- well, he's Elena's stalker. He's a serial killer and with his chapters you see, you hear, you feel his deranged mind to light.

But The Silencer is not the only one Christian and Elena must worry about. There's someone else lurking in the dark waiting to strike. When he does... well, it's not something you'll make it out of.

"Now until I met you."

*spoiler* In case you haven't gotten the memo yet: this is not an HEA. Christian and Elena, unfortunately, became another Shakespearean Romeo and Juliet.

this book left me speechless

if I could give this story unlimited stars I most definitely would! this has got to be one of joe ardens most phenomenal narrations yet! don't get me wrong both were amazing but Joe's was out of this world!! you could feel the sincerity the pain the love and every other emotion pour through his words. I'd give 3 credits for this story so I know you won't regret spending 1 on it!! it's just one of those stories that sticks with you and tugs so hard at your heart strings that it physically makes you cry and feel the pain the characters are written to feel. I usually don't listen to the same audiobook twice but this one I would 100 times over bc it's that damn good!
