About this listen

In the crisp, early morning hours, the police are called to a suspected murder at a farm outside a small English village. A beautiful young woman has been found dead, blood all over the cottage she lives in. At the same time, police respond to a reported female suicide, where a car has fallen into a local quarry.

As DCI Louisa Smith and her team gather the evidence, they discover a link between these two women, a link which has sealed their dreadful fate one cold night, under a silent moon.

Told in a unique way, using source documents that allow readers to interpret the evidence alongside DCI Louisa Smith and her team, Under a Silent Moon is an unsettling and compulsively readable novel that will keep you gripped until the very last page.

Compelling British Police Procedural

An engrossing British police procedural. UNDER A SILENT MOON is also very psychological and delves into the extremes of human emotions, including some of emotion' s perverse aspects. There a lot of characters so it take a bit to get into the book. Detective Chief Inspector Louisa Smith is experienced in policing, but the killing of Polly Leuchars is her first session as leader of a Major Crime investigation. She must prove herself qualified before her superintendent and before her team, at the same time forced to work with Detective Inspector Andy Hamilton, a loose cannon in search of trouble. UNDER A SILENT MOON is a good introduction to this author and encouragement to continue the Series.
Lucy Price-Lewis was outstanding with the delivery of the story

I LOVE BRITISH POLICE MYSTERIES - 4.5

What made the experience of listening to Under a Silent Moon the most enjoyable?

One of my favourite genres, possibly because I used to watch them with Dad on the tele when I was quite small and there was often one at the picture theatre as an accompaniment to the main feature which we often enjoyed more than the main. Elizabeth Haynes books are believable, probably because of her background, and she is a good writer who fleshes out her characters well and makes them very human, indeed. I loved the duel plots here and kept me wondering whether they were linked or not all the way until the end.

What other book might you compare Under a Silent Moon to and why?

I don't particularly like comparing authors with each other as they all have something different to offer the reader, however, I feel I can compare other books written by the same author and with Elizabeth Haynes, I feel she's just getting better and better.

Which scene was your favorite?

well, I guess the most memorable one was when Inspector Andy Holland was seduced by the sinister but beautiful Susan and made to perform graphically detailed S&M with her; "oh my" a step above even Shades of Grey......!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"steamy"

Any additional comments?

thoroughly recommend to those who enjoy British Detective murder mysteries; a good thriller with condiments of erotica...
