In Under the Hair of the Dog, a sequel to Under the Dead Man’s Hat and Under the Dead Lady’s Corset, the Archbishop of Chicago and his faithful St Bernard, Chaucer, beloved by the community, are found brutally murdered in their humble home in Hyde Park. The manhunt for the killer is on, drawing the respected Dr. Jude Avery, M.E. onto the case.
Alongside Sybil Shanley, Dr. Avery discovers key environmental DNA (e-DNA). This new science points to a troubled grocery boy who was well-liked by the Archbishop, his eDNA all over the scene, particularly in the hair of the dog.
While Chaucer is being taxidermized, the suspected grocery boy disappears–running from the authorities. A detective working the case shoots and kills the boy, snuffing out any information he could have provided.
Case closed? Not for Jude Avery, it’s just beginning as she and Sybil work ever closer to the real killer, mixing it up with other agencies and even the clergy to untangle an astonishing mystery!
