“ The rules you write yourself are the only ones that matter.” This book came to me at a pivotal moment in my life and gave me the clarity to see where my path needs to go. I’m a change-maker by trade, but have felt stuck in the monotony of life, while feeling deeply in my core that I have more to offer others.

Having met Amber, I can share with all of you that she is everything and more that is in this book. In this complex, but also beautiful journey of life, she is a force of nature and an incredible example to us all. The audio book is exceptional, her voice brings it to life. It’s real, it’s raw, it’s funny. It connects at a deeper level with the conscious and the subconscious in so many different ways. The stories are relatable, because they are in many instances our own stories, and along with them we receive valuable guidance, inspiration. I cried, I laughed, I claimed my authenticity!! I listened to this book while driving to work and got there each day feeling ready to take on the world, on my terms. It was absolutely made to be an audiobook, as Amber is a talented motivational speaker and coach. She is honest and passionate; relatable and real. In a raw and enthusiastic way she shares the story of her journey from her small town Wisconsin roots to rockstar business coach (with stops on the pageant circuit and Africa along the way). Her metal band Morningstar, for whom Amber is lead singer, is even featured jamming out throughout the book.

This book was challenging in the very best way. As a young physician, there are so many boxes I am expected to fit into within the structure of the medical system. This book was the jolt I needed - it made me rethink the way I squeeze myself to fit into constructs of the world, where I am complacent but not fulfilled. I felt pushed to crush those limits I have put on myself to live an authentic, purposeful and courageous life. To stop shaping who I am to fit other people's expectations. To say no when things don't fit my goals. To speak up for myself and my value. Or as Amber would put it - to embrace my inner badass!
