About this listen

A murdered politician. A small town torn between the past and the future. A newlywed baker who can't help poking her nose in a murder mystery that seems off.

It's the start of a new year and Meghan is hoping for change in her personal and emotional life.

She never bargained that change would come in the form of an unexpected visitor to her marital home and the mysterious murder of a popular figure in the small town of Sandy Bay.

Things are further complicated when she discovers that the deceased, a big fan of her desserts, was related to many people in town. In good, bad, and ugly ways!

Meghan is left worried and confused as heated opinions of the events leading to the murder seem to distract everyone from the actual homicide itself.

Was the murder coincidental or a coordinated, sinister undertaking?

Will Meghan learn to live with her unexpected guest or allow her fledgling relationship to hit the rocks?

Will she help or hinder a murder investigation that has her bakery's desserts as the common denominator linking all the key suspects?

Book 22 in the best-selling Sandy Bay Cozy Mystery series! If you want to enjoy a lighthearted listen with an amateur female sleuth, mouthwatering culinary desserts, and a gripping murder mystery with a touch of romance, then you'll love Meghan Truman and all the quirky characters in Sandy Bay.

No cliff-hanger, swearing, or graphic scenes!

Velvet Cake and Murder is Book 22 in the Sandy Bay Cozy Mystery by Amber Crews. I love this series. I have read all 26 books and listened to most of the audio books. Amber Crews is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. Meghan and Jack are newlyweds. Naturally, neither is expecting a surprise visitor and certainly not one that is staying several weeks! On top of that, a murder occurs and Meghan's bakery just might be a common thread. Lots of excitement and humorous dialogue. Velvet Fake and Murder is brought to life by narrator Elena Marino.

I was entertained by this story as much as the other ones in the series. I felt for Meghan when the unexpected visitor came to stay. I liked the change that developed as they grew in understanding of one another. I appreciated the complex mystery which unfolded. I liked the relationships between Meghan and her help in the bakery, and I thought those relationships added to the story. I enjoyed Elena Marino's narration as her performance was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
