Publisher's summary

The hawk was created in the image of a hawk. That means he must use violence every day of his life if he wants to eat and live another day. He can never wake up one morning and say to himself, I no longer wish to eat mice and snakes; I want to eat seeds and nuts like the cardinal. No, he cannot do this, and why? Because he was created in the image of a hawk. I don't see, I don't understand.

Sam, I know your father taught you this, but you have forgotten. The hawk was created in the image of a hawk. What image were you created in?

Sam whispered, "God, I was created in the image of God."

The Amish elder smiled, "Yes, you were created in the image of God and as such you were granted the ability to choose. You can choose to do right or wrong, good or bad, be peaceful or violent. You can even choose to eat mice and snakes if you like."

5 Star

I've read the first 2 books in the series and they were good, but in this one the author surpasses his own very high standard.
It is a series that moved from a western, to a story about life and love in a western setting.
Book 3 concludes the story of Samuel Moses,
Read and enjoy - it is so much more than a western. This is a book I will go back and read again & again.
Joseph R Durika once again compliments the storyline with his brilliant narration.

Satisfying Conclusion

This is a three-book series best read in order. Each tale could be read randomly and individually and provide a wonderful entertainment, but the richness of details calls out for enjoying the full experience. Chronicling post-war (Civil) Missouri, author Kwen Griffeth carefully sets his stage and players and then lets the saga roll forth. Narrator Joseph Durika seems a perfect choice for giving voice to the story and characters and I gave a deep, satisfied sigh as the final credits verbally rolled across the screen.

Didn't think it possible

I am so pleasantly surprised by the latest installment of the Sam and Laura saga. It is now my favorite! Kwen Griffeth is a master story teller and Joseph Durika has come into his own through the telling of this fine tale.

Incredible trilogy

This guy can write a story . The characterization is his stories are precise , detailed and well thought out . You can see , hear , feel and touch the scenery ,the events , people and situations as they fly off the pages and into your life . Grab a pillow curl up on your couch and plan on staying for the long haul . Guarnetee you won’t want to be putting this trilogy down at any point along the way . Happy reading

Great listen

Just finished the third book in the series and let me tell you, I loved the whole trilogy! Each book showed incredibly profound character development and it was a pleasure to follow Sam on his path to becoming the man which he was born to be, and which he has eventually become

Joseph R Durika did a great job at narrating

Great story...

I have to say towards the end I was so upset that things were ended or ending, but the last 2-3 chapters got even better! The whole series was fun to listen to! ❤️🤠❤️
