Editorial reviews
Victory, a 1955 novel by Lester del Rey, takes place at a time when Earth is the most prosperous and peaceful planet in the galaxy.
Del Rey’s novel is the story of one human, Captain Duke O’Neill, who is tired of seeing his planet refusing to rescue alien civilizations that need its help. When he’s recruited for a higher position, he learns the real reason why Earth is such a neutral planet.
Del Rey’s intergalactic parable on interventionism comes from the "Golden Age" of science fiction and is full of vividly imagined alien races. Ran Alan Ricard delivers a tensely voiced performance with distinct voices for these alien characters.
Involving, exciting and with a not so subtle message about the price of victory. Reader was excellent as well.
