Cute story

This was interesting although short. stuffed a lot of world building in a short time which made it a bit dizzying but had a nice hero with a HEA even if the plot felt rushed, it’s like when you catch half a conversation where you get the gist f it but not the entire meaning.

Thin plot and characters

I know romance is not known for its literary brilliance and I’m usually fine with that, but this felt very much like high school creative writing class.

Berserker Viking & Virginal Valkyrie insta love

The idea of a dark, dangerous space Viking kidnapping the warden’s daughter, then getting stranded alone with only each other to survive sounded like a plot right up my alpha male, enemies to lovers, sci-fi B movie loving alley. But, this novella was a barely plotted out concept that was sweet rather than sexy. The writing was clumsy and awkward, with expressions like “by Valhalla, she had the balls of a berserker, but the naivety of a Saxony princess.”

A duo of tame, quickie sex scenes, and a handful of kisses failed to bring the heat. Several F bombs seemed out of place. Mercy’s nose crinkled way too many times. At least I listened to this for free.

If you’re looking for a better done, sexier space romance that brings the campiness and the hot nooky, I recommend Deadlocked, by Libby Sinclair and narrated by Hollie Jackson (same narrator as this book).
