About this listen
Sora is having visions. Strange, terrifying visions brought on by her Cat's Eye necklace, an ancient and magical device. Spurred to action, she leaves her mother's cabin to find Crash, the mysterious assassin who once changed her life. She is certain that together, they can discover what the necklace is trying to tell her.
Crash is still on the run from the dark sorcerer, Volcrian, but now a plague is spreading across the land. Volcrian's quest for vengeance has awakened something far more evil than himself; a force that could destroy the entire kingdom.
Together, he and Sora must harness the power of the Cat's Eye and kill the sorcerer before it's too late.

Story
Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th-century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trades she uses to get by - palm readings, zars, and a mysterious gift for healing - are all tricks, both the means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons Dara, an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior, to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to reconsider her beliefs.

A great adventure
I’m loving this series so much! It’s full of adventure and intrigue! All of the characters and scenes are very detailed to the point of being able to see them in my minds eye. I can’t wait to download the next book and continue this journey. Thank you for the amazing writing of this series!

Not disappointed
I adore this series but was wary of getting the audiobook, a bad narrator would really spoil it. Fortunately, the narrator was very neutral and the I could immerse myself in one of my favourite series.

Loved it!
I listened to this book in a sitting and couldn’t stop! The characters once again came to life by C.S.E. Cooney’s fabulous narration and ability to change her voice with inflection to encompass each situation and consideration. I loved the conflict in this book, and how it expanded on the first, but with so much more detail and mystery. I also really enjoyed the new magical elements in this story, and how Sora is being constantly challenged, by personal conflicts, disease outbreaks and so much more. I would definitely recommend this series and plan on listening to book three right away!
