Thrilling and Exciting!

This one is amazing! I am Loving this story! Volcanoes are intriguing to me since I don't live near them. I have never had to be aware of what can happen and what the public needs to do. This story involves a suspenful thrilling plot. I loved learning about all the volcano and what it can do but also following along with a murder and trying to figure out the whys of that. This really held my interest and kept me going more so near the end when everything gets C-R-A-Z-Y!

This is a well crafted book that I struggled to figure out the “who done it” factor. So that makes me love it all the more!! I am so glad I grabbed this one!

I listen to this on audio. The narration is done by Nelly Scott. She does a great job and really helped. Keep me invested.

Loved this!

This is the second book I've read/listened to by Toni Dwiggins. I enjoyed this even more. I was completely immersed into the story trying to figure out who was guilty. I kept getting thrown off. We see Cassie and Walter again and get to know them a little bit better. Love these characters. A wonderful suspense story that has me wanting more!

Nellie Scott is an excellent narrator. She voices female and male voices well, bringing the book to life, rolling like a movie in my head. Perfection.

Captivating!

This is the third book in the Forensic Geology series. This series is captivating. The characters are well developed, and intriguing. The world building is entertaining, complex, and suspenseful, filled with danger, mystery, intrigue, and twists and turns. Nellie Scott did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Skeleton Sea, the next book in the series. #PFPAudio

Exciting Story!

This is the second book in the series that I listened to and enjoyed it better than the previous one.  This book was very exciting and kept my interest all the way through.  I really like Cassie and Walter’s characters and I enjoyed getting to know more about them and more about Cassie’s family and friends.  As the search goes on about who killed the Mayor and more is found about the volcano that is going to erupt, there is so much going on in the book, I enjoyed following along trying to figure out who all they guilty parties were.  This was full of excitement and had some sadness and I look forward to the next book. The narration by Nellie Scott was great and made the book enjoyable to listen to.

A scientifically accurate volcano thriller = my wish come true!

I absolutely loved this earth science-based mystery/thriller. As a geologist and geographer myself, I really appreciate that all the geographic details and 95% of the geologic details are accurate! I was blown away by the excellent research by the author. I just wish that the book had mentioned chain of custody forms for evidence, which would make the forensic geology consultant side of things sound completely professional. The books in this series can be enjoyed in any order. Violence and a few sexual references are brief and are mild to moderately graphic.

A forensic geologist heroine named Cassie Oldfield is trying to solve murders in her home town of Mammoth Lakes, CA, while the Long Valley Caldera is rumbling to life threatening a volcano evacuation! The story sometimes seems a little long-winded, but all of the people and conversations end up being pertinent to the twisty mystery plot. Cassie is intelligent, determined, loyal, and courageous. Cassie’s manner of verbal confrontation sounds a bit strident and petulant, but I got used to it. She isn’t perfect, but she is a fascinating and an excellent mystery/thriller sleuth. I can’t wait to devour the entire Forensic Geology series!

The narrator Nellie Scott did a wonderful job. She was very good at making all the character voices distinctive. She was excellent at pacing, enunciation, pronunciation, and accents. I appreciate that the characters from California all had accents that seemed accurate. I enjoyed Nellie Scott’s alto vocal tone, and she vividly brought the book to life with her vibrant performance.

I requested and received a free audio copy via the publisher, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam #FiresideAudio
