About this listen

Thirty years ago a flying saucer hovered over the little town of Mart, Texas. Martites looked up and saw it, and a few took photos of it. When a newspaper asked the mayor of Mart about it, he said, "IT couldn't have been much or it would have never come to Mart." But the Mayor may have been wrong, for Martians may well have visited Mart back in the 1950s, when the author of this book was growing up there. Childhood betrayals, incessant drought, unreasonable parents, dogmatic grammarians, and kids who just didn't fit in might have all been engineered by visiting but invisible creatures from Mars. This book is the world's first "sci-fi" memoir: a reinterpretation of old memories from the standpoint of alien interference and control. It all started on an evening when the author, aged six, sneaked out of his bedroom to see a Martian monster movie. OR did he? Maybe the end, the suffering we blame on Martians is just Life. ai voice had a nice Southern accent which one goes along with Mart, Texas, but mispronunciations were distracting. for example, lush pronounced loosh.

Good story from The view of a small town in Central Texas in the 1950s

lessons learned from a movie, watched as a child and reflected on as an adult
