Mari thinks she has a plan to save Earth from an alien invasion by the Centauri of Proxima Centauri-B... but when things seem desperate and uncertain, Mari needs to think of escape and survival. What she needs is a bright idea. What she finds is a unique friend with a guiding light.

On the Centauri warship Executor, a ragtag crew of Centauri doctors and medical officers along with the Oberon One survivors hatch their own plans to escape Proxima and rendezvous with the rescue and cargo transport ship, Intrepid to warn Earth of First Contact and impending invasion. Mari's friends, Victoria "Vikki" Bradley and Dimitri Vasilevsky, have some plans of their own and plot mutiny if they don't go back to Proxima for Mari and Akiko.
