Willy Freeman's life changes forever when she witnesses her father's death at the hands of the Redcoats and returns home to find that the British have taken her mother as a prisoner to New York City. Required reading for self- described “patriots”!

This is an extraordinary work that should be required reading for ALL American children. A true American masterpiece!!!

Educational...

I think this was good in terms of educating and reminding those that slavery existed. My one issue with this book is that I wish a black female would have been used for the part of Willy as well as a person portraying a British accent where a British person was speaking.
