About this listen
Fifteen-year-old Dax, low-status and rebellious, never expected to be thrust onto the battlefield to fight aliens for Global Command, but she was hand-picked by Commander Viteri and torn from her family forever. Reluctant to take lives and skeptical of the true motives behind the conflict, Dax embarks on a perilous journey to uncover the secrets hidden within the wars. She bands with her squad of fellow misfit soldiers to learn the reason why Global Command refuses to end the wars, but as survival becomes her greatest challenge, she must navigate treacherous paths in search of the truth before it’s too late.

It went like a breeze!
An exciting adventure with a well paced narrative.. Compassionate and adventurous protagonist with a strong moral compass. Overall, this is well-written, plot-driven YA novel.
The narration breathes life into the characters and gives each their own distinctive voice. It masterfully brings the gripping cascade of events into a thrilling cadence. It made this listen such a breeze!

worth a credit!
great story outlining the inevitability of our military industrial complex ruining chances of peaceful coexistence with other intelligent life.
Loads of action! My only complaint is the sheer amount of action left the MC spinning and came off a bit whimpery from time to time.
overall good book and do reccomend

A little heavy handed with the exposition
All good sci-fi has allegories for issues today. This one is no exception, except it's less a metaphor or allegory and more smashing you over the head with the idea.
Is it wrong? No. Does it make it a bad story? Also, no. Does it seem a little excessive at times? Yes.
Honestly, the writing is decent. The plot is decent. The narrator is a bit slow for my tastes, but decent.
8/10, will listen to the 2nd book.

Interesting dystopian viewpoint
Not usually my genre, but the way the Military was just a corrupt corporation out for more money and power while using their populace as nothing but expendable cattle and fodder kept me reading, although horrified at the thought of how close it was to being real

Not for me
I dont think this is for me. I didnt want to finish it. The narrator is good, the only thing I would critique is she does too many dramatic embelishments when they arent needed.
