About this listen

A crash-landing puts Zelia Lor and her friends straight back into danger as they must contend with surviving on an ice world...and the small matter of a host of Genestealers.

Listen to it because:

Have you heard the phrase 'out of the frying pan, into the fire'? The young heroes have survived the Necrons, but now they face the claws and cunning of another alien enemy....

The story:

Having crash-landed on a remote ice planet, Zelia Lor and her friends Talen, Mekki and the super-intelligent alien-ape Fleapit must do whatever they can to survive. A distress beacon offers some hope of rescue, but what else lurks in the ice and snow, watching them with hungry eyes?

The second book in the series is just as fast paced as the first. Some backstory is revealed, but not so much so the action drags. There is actual character development/growth as well, something not often as in books based on game play universes. David Tennant once again does a wonderful job narrating in his lovely Scottish brogue. I'm just sad it's too late to listen to the third book!

The heroes fall from one problem into another.

I know that this is a book for young adults, but even for this it doesn't cut it. The plot is boring and predictable, the action is repetitive, and what seems like an attempt at causing fear is handled with kid gloves due to the target audience and it makes it just sad and boring. I am really not impressed with this.

I will listen to the next one as I got the first several all on sale, but I'm guessing it won't get better and I will be done with the series.

David Tennant rocks by the way, and I hope he keeps doing more books.

Not recommended.

These just aren't getting better...
