About this listen

Nancy Moser, Christy Award-winning author of Mozart's Sister, distills the life of Martha Washington into a revealing first-person historical novel. As a financially secure widow who has felt death's sting six times, 26-year-old Martha determines not to remarry. And then into her life strides a heroic colonel, and she dares to love again. But soon she must envision an even greater dream than domestic bliss.©2008 Nancy Moser (P)2008 Recorded Books,LLC Biographical Fiction Christian Fiction Christianity Fiction Genre Fiction Historical

There were to many moments to count where I found myself so admiring Marta Washington! I just love her! Not only for her relationship with George Washington, but everyone she meets. This book was so well written I feel like II know Martha personally. Wish there were more Martha's in this world.

Favorite Book I've Ever Read!

Before listening to this audiobook, I knew very little about either our first president, George Washington, or his bride, Martha Washington. I learned more about the time period and family in this interesting account of their lives.

This novel is written from the perspective of Martha Washington, and the audio version has a narrator whose voice, inflections, and moderation are very well done, one that I could easily listen to.

I wasn’t aware of the tragedies faced by the Washington’s, more specifically Martha. Their faith in the Lord made a huge difference in how they went through each crisis. Martha was an amazing woman to be able to provide the support George Washington needed throughout the Revolutionary War and his presidency. The devastating conditions faced through the war were not detailed. I was surprised at how much Martha was able to help George and his troops. She was definitely a woman I would have liked to know and was very well portrayed in this novel. I highly recommend this to those who appreciate historical novels about people who made huge contributions to our country and how their relationship with the Lord helped them through the challenges they faced.

Not only is this book very well written, but it was so incredibly exciting to learn about George and Martha Washington in a way that I never could have just from history books! I now have a new appreciation for what they both did for our country! I’ll never forget this book!

I’m so thankful that this book was brought into my life!

Must read! The Washington's life was a difficult one but they loved each other dearly. I enjoyed how the author really brought these historical people to life and made them real. She showed how you can overcome obstacles and long separations and still be devoted to one another. Will listen to this book again and again.

Excellent Book!

I thought this was a great read. It really made my past visit to Mt Vernon come alive. It was a real love story and showed their dedication not only to each other but to our new country. The word "providence" is used often in this book.
Providence it was for our first President and his
lady.
Good narration and should be a recommended read for all teens to read. As Americans they can
relive the sacrifice that many men and women made
for their freedom.

I learned so much of our early American History & culture. It was also, enjoyable to read. I just wish our country still held the conviction, honor, values, beliefs and faith as George Washington’s example to our country.

We recently visited Mount Vernon for the first time so I became intrigued with George and Martha. I loved reading about their love for each other and their devotion to the cause of the United States of America. Their first love was that of Jesus Christ and serving Him. They went through so much and never lost their faith.

Martha was a strong lady
