About this listen

His style was iconic and vintage ’80s: aviator goggles, Jheri curls, neck roll, boxy pads.

Eric Dickerson is the greatest player in Los Angeles Rams history and the NFL’s single-season record holder for most rushing yards. In 2019, Dickerson was named to the National Football League’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. With an elegant upright running style that produced some of football’s most-watched highlights, it was said he was so smooth you couldn’t hear his pads clack as he glided past you.

But during his Hall of Fame career, his greatness was often overshadowed by his contentious disputes with Rams management about his contract. In the pre-free-agency era, tensions over his exploitative contract often overshadowed his accomplishments. "What’s his problem?" went the familiar refrain from the media. Can’t he just shut up and run?

It’s time to reexamine how Eric Dickerson was portrayed. For the first time, he’s telling his story. And he’s not holding anything back.

A real Ram

Dickerson gives us an honest look at a life well lived. He reinforces the essential value of having and being good parents. He entertains the reader with stories about the inner workings of football from before high school past the pros. We lament the real story of his departure from a city that loved. We could have won the Super Bowl over thirty years ago. I wish him good health and continued success.

Full Transparency

ED kept it real. The NFL new schoolers should put a small portion aside for the vets medical or shall we say for themselves one day. The insight inside the game politics is disheartening. This book is a gift to all ED fans young and old. As a kid I loved to watch him glide right by defenders. Lastly, to find out Eric is a good hearted dude makes this book even better. Congratulations on the HOF !

Before my time

I was born in 88 so don’t remember seeing him play. I thought it was insightful into his life. My favorite story was the Lawrence Taylor one lol
Overall a very
enjoyable audiobook

WAY BETTER THAN EXPECTED!!!

Eric is a truth teller. It’s great to hear his story, his upbringing, and his background. It’s nice to finally get to the bottom of the Trans Am story.

His toughness was really underrated. It would have been nice to see him in an environment where he was appreciated! He really could’ve ran for 20,000 yards! It’s a great story and I could say more, but that would defeat the purpose of buying the book!

Eric has a huge heart on and off the field!!!

One of the best

This was a great book. As a fan, it gave allot of insight into the ups and downs of his career. In my opinion, the greatest running back of all time, and an awesome reflection on his life as not only a football player, but son and father

Amazing story

I truly love the Rams and I'm a lifelong fan. I was a fan of Eric Dickerson when I was a kid in the 1980s. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to every word. Although I enjoyed it I do not agree with him on his politics and certain views. overall it's an excellent book that every true die hard Rams fan would enjoy.
