Its the summer of 1944 and British soldier Frank Marshall awaits his orders. As he tries his best to forget the war at the local village pub, drinking his favorite pint Archers Ale he meets the young barmaid June Jefferson. They soon fall in love. This book made me laugh and cry cyan relief… I went through a gamut of emotions with this book and I loved it! I promise if you like romance stories and historical fiction you would love this book it was so good I can’t wait for the second book to come out I hope the same narrator millwrights the book. He does such a wonderful job putting in inflections gaspingFor breath after the character ran He was was perfect doing all the different voices he did such a wonderful job. I always say a narrator can make a break a audio book this one took a great book and made it better like I said I loved it

I was shocked about what happened in the last chapter. The relationship between June and Frank was well developed. I hope the next part of this audiobook is released soon.

I found the whole experience of this story very interesting. Story was very intriguing and the narrator was very good. I am looking forward to part two of the story.

Here’s the problem. It’s a romance written by a man. There are 2 women in this book. One is confidently beautiful and the other, the bar made, is more subtly beautiful. He loves the subtly beautiful girl. That’s the entirety of their personalities. Every chapter mentions obvious beauty or subtle gorgeousness. It’s like he got a thesaurus out and just looked up those 2 words over and over. I think him loving the less obvious beauty shows his depth?

Yup, 1 dimensional characters. Plus the main character is also 1 dimensional. Which is unfortunate, because there’s zero passion when it comes to love scenes.

It’s a part one of a romance/war novel written by a man. So I’m assuming she’ll die in part 2. I wouldn’t waste your time and money on this.
