Excellent story, well performed.

This is another story that takes place in Newton Lauder, lowlands of Scotland. Luke, a widower, is raising his great grand daughters Jane and Violet. He is a rakish photographer and sportsman who wears an eye patch. Violet is quite near as good a photographer as Luke and helps him with computers and digital stuff. Jane loves training her dog and the outdoors, she's also quite clever. Helena is Lukes live-in ladyfriend of many years.

When Violet's beau goes missing, everyone in the county tries to find him. Jane sets off with her dog, that she's been training to follow a scent, to see if she can do some good. She finds him. This leads to links to a much larger and more involved investigation with the inspector Honey Laird showing up and getting Luke's help.

This is a really good story with lots of information and little nods and winks to other books about the people of this town. It is a stand alone novel, though and is perfectly wonderful on its own.

The performance is excellent. The accents and female voices are not distracting . . . they add to the story.
