About this listen

Harvard Business Review writes about this article from their collection, "No management thinker was as prolific or as profound as Peter Drucker. Here is some of the savviest advice he offered executives." This from Harvard Business School Press! Who is better qualified to make this judgment than them?

The brief introduction describes how Drucker evolved into what he became. This article then summarizes his previous summaries of his greatest work. Eight articles are included in brief: "The Theory of the Business", "What Business Can Learn from Nonprofits", "The New Society of Organizations", "The Information Executives Truly Need", "Managing Oneself", "They're Not Employees - They're People", and "What Makes the Effective Executive".

Simply Magazine has produced most of these articles in their unabridged form for those who would later like to read the complete articles. This is an excellent sampling with the core information provided.

if you read Drucker then these shorts are nice to remind us of the managing points we need to stay on top of for proper execution

I would suggest NOT getting this book even if it were free. First, the production and narration sounded like my Uncle Tony recording on a tape cassette recorder in his bathroom. Second, the content was excerpts from articles where the background and intro to the article were read, but the meat and the points were left out...an exercise for the listener after hearing the initial bits.

Maybe there were some pearls of wisdom from an individual whom I consider to be both philosophical and practical - someone who should be required reading for anyone working at a company on how to treat others and themselves. However, even that premise was not enough for me to waste any more time than I already had listening to this book.
