About this listen
"You're a breath of joy, Nell. That's the most tempting thing in the world."
Nell desperately needs to write a hit, or her romance career will be even deader than her love life. Her grandfather's quirky cabin is the perfect writer's retreat, but it turns out life in the woods isn't as distraction-free as she'd hoped. How can she concentrate on writing with Alik the local park ranger's sweet and sexy ways finding a place in her heart, no matter how hard she tries to focus?
What she doesn't realize is that his easygoing friendship comes with a difficult choice. He has a dark secret tied to the moon, and when fame and fortune come calling for Nell, she'll have to decide between the glitzy life she knew, and the man she's come to love.
This is the first of the Volkov series, however this paranormal romance novel can be read as a stand alone. It is a self-contained HEA

Sweet story
STORY REVIEW......
This book was a sweet story of love, friendship, secrets, humor, loneliness, acceptance and blooming romance. The characters of Alik and Nell were so sweet and fun. I loved how they slowly got to know each other through hiking in the woods and over movies an popcorn. It was hilarious how Alik loved the Julia Roberts movies.
AUDIO REVIEW......
The narrator was pretty good. She had a nice, clear voice as well as good character voices. I enjoyed listening to her reading the book.

G Rated Platonic Romantic Shifter Tale
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was a nice tale of true love and friendship
Would you be willing to try another book from Augusta Hill? Why or why not?
Yes I would. I was lukewarm about this book. It was likable not outstanding.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I have no specific suggestion.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Probably not
Any additional comments?
This is a very tame shifter romance about platonic love and true friendship. There are no steamy sex scenes. The heroine discovers what is important in life and befriends and falls into love with a very lonely werewolf. Alik is a lone wolf as he is different and ostracized by his pack. He yearns for companionship and acceptance.
Nell doesn't know true love. Her experience with love has always been superficial lust. With Alik she will learn what love means.
I didn't feel fully sated with this novel and just had a lukewarm reaction to the book It is a sweet tender story about love and acceptance.

Unusual wear wolf
This was very unusual story more getting to know each other than sex and fighting and refreshing. Loved they way the narrator echoed when the main character would talk to herself.

Shifter Story
What could Augusta Hill have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
My biggest problem was with the heroine. She appeared like such a shallow person.
Which character – as performed by Kristin James – was your favorite?
Kristin James did a nice job with the narration.
Any additional comments?
A writer goes to live in the cabin in the woods. She is trying to find inspiration for her next novel. She just got over a relationship but is still looking for romance in her life. Then she meets Alik, the local park ranger. Alik is kind and sweet, but the complete opposite of everything that Nell usually dates. From Nell’s description of the men she dated, they all sounded like “tools”. Nell came off so unlikable to me that it was hard for me to connect. She comes off as shallow. How hot the man is of most importance. Did not matter how the man behaved.
My problem was mostly with the heroine. I understand what the author was trying to do with the main character, but for the longest time I had no idea where the story was going. In the beginning, I thought this was simply going to be just about a writer who is staying in the woods with a shifter who becomes her friend because nothing really was happening. After finishing the book, I see what the author was trying to do, but I feel the execution was not there. There was a lot of the inner dialogue that could have been eliminated. The story is short. Instead of detail descriptions of Nell’s mother’s cooking and trips to Puerto Rico, the focus should be connecting the heroine with the hero. It was all too sudden for me to feel the connection.

Finding Love and Happiness!
I really enjoyed this story by Augusta Hill. She has written a story that feels like a true story except for the wolf shifter. I enjoyed the storyline, details, and the characters, especially the main character Nell. I do wish the story had been longer though.
Narrator, Kristin James kept me glued to this story. She breathed life into it and as I listened to the story it seemed to come to life. She did a great job distinguishing the accents of all the characters. Overall, a 5 🌟 rating. I received this audio in exchange for an unbiased review.

A Beautiful Simple Book
Where does What Might Be: A Summer Tale rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It ranks in the middle of the books I've listened to so far. It is like a breath of fresh air to give you a break from the intense books I've listened to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The shifter: He brings a sense of peace and contentment to the story.
Have you listened to any of Kristin James’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I'm not sure. I would've given full stars but at times when the narrator was speaking the characters thoughts, there was a hollow tinny sounds like feed back from the mic. I'm sure this wasn't due to anything the narrator did, but it was annoying.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A Heroine's Savior

Heartwarming Paranormal Romance
What Might Be: A Summer Tale is an enjoyable story. Nell, a romance writer, has writer block. She has been dumped by her ex-boyfriend. Ever since, Nell has been unable to write any romance stories. She decided to take a chance in a change of scenery by going to the cabin that her grandfather left her.
She meets Alik, a forest ranger. Their friendship grew until Nell discovered Alik's secret. Nell was able to overcome Alik's secret. When a handsome developer showed up, Nell thought that the developer was the type of man that she usually date. The developer is wealthy and handsome and that the type of fun that Nell prefer.
When her father is hospitalized, Nell has to decide which of the two men, she was going to choose as well as the life style, she was left behind when her ex-boyfriend broke-up with her: the glitzy life style vs. the woodland.
The narrator, Kristen James has a wonderful voice to listen to for this heartwarming romance story. The narrator provided the innocence of Nell's idea of romance and true love.
What I like about this audiobook is that Nell has a misconception of romance and true love. I even love the part when Nell's father was able to provide her a constructive criticism about Nell's romance stories and what her stories was lacking. It took Nell awhile to figure out what she and Alik have. The readers/listeners will love this short heartwarming romance story.
I was given this book by the author/narrator/publisher via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.
