Another great book in the Parker Sisters series.

What We Can't Have is the fourth book in the Parker Sisters series. You could probably read this without reading the others first, but I think you'll enjoy them more if you read the series in order.

Once again, Teri Clark Linden has given another fantastic performance. She really does a wonderful job and made listening to this story captivating. I'm really picky about female narrators and she is one of the good ones.

This story is about Mason, the youngest Parker sister. She's the smart one and has enough credits to finish high school early; a fact that she's kept from her family. Her sister Scarlett has been horrible to her lately, especially after a man Scarlett was interested in shows an interest in seventeen-year-old Mason.

Justin rides broncs in the rodeo and when he sees Mason and Scarlett together watching him ride, he only has eyes for Mason. Mason and Justin soon find out that they are neighbors and that there is bad blood between their families; Justin's dad wants to buy the land that Mason's family owns.

I don't want to give too much of the story away but there is a lot of hostility in this one as differences between Mason, Scarlett and the rest of the Parkers escalate. Justin is firmly in Mason's corner but the way he and Mason handle things definitely didn't help keep harmony in the family.

This story has a HFN (happy for now) but I hope we hear more from Mason and Justin in the remaining books in this series.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at no cost but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Mixed Messages

This book had so much going on. Sort of a Romeo and Juliet theme. It centers on one sister in a family and although it's a standalone, you can tell the previous books were to stories of the other sisters who are now paired off. *Spoiler Alert* I was frustrated how the family treated the h and took her for granted. They seemed to side and support her spoiled older sister. In the end, I can't help but agree with the outcome but it was still unsettled and left a lot hanging. I wanted to see the h vindicated and her sister get her comeuppance but it seemed that the h just did her good girl (in this case doormat) thing and go with the wishes of her family.

the thing family do to each other

I am not going to sugarcoat. I was not happy at the way things ended. I was a bit sadden and or disappointed. I love stories that give you something more to look forward to but at the same time I want one that will satisfy my cravings a bit more. Watching the youngest sister go through the things she did was a little hard because it hit close to home. So I was hoping for so much more for her. Then to have much of her hurt and shame be at the hands of her own family sadden me even more and had me wanted her to have all she could ever want. The thing family do to each other is a real thing and not always loving.

Teri Clark was okay with the narration. It was enjoyable but not an experience.

only girl

To this day I tell my parents that I am so happy that I was the only girl. I really hate sharing my toys, it was bad enough that I had 2 cousins that as soon as they heard I liked someone, they were all over them. This story is about one sister liking a guy but the guy ending up liking the other sister. So he pursues her but it doesn't stop there because the other sister thinks she stole him, starts telling her friends about her mean sister and how her heart is going to be broken forever. Things happen at school, Mason wants to finish her schooling a different way, which is okayed, Mason wants Mason to go with him on the rodeo circuit. but is it really that cut and dry?? Nope. What happens to Scarlett, the you took my guy away hater and her friends? just get yourself a listen because believe it or not, I left a lot out.

Great Family Dynamic

I own the boxed set of the Parker Sisters and have just finished listening to book 4 in the series "What We Can't Have" and the heroine is Mason the youngest and smartest of the 6 sisters. Now I really enjoy this honorable and very loving family and each book can be read as a standalone but to get the fullest appreciation of this very interesting family they should really be read in sequence.
There are a lot of reviews for this series and the readers seem to want to give a lot of the story away so I won't add to this. What I will say is I am truly enjoying getting to know this family. The author does such a marvelous job fleshing out each member so you feel like you know and feel for their life’s flow. This family dynamic is one I wish I had grown up in. So if you really want to enjoy a good family read I highly recommend you buy and start with this great family. Now it's off to reading book 5. Now every family has at least one trouble maker and here it comes "Scarlett" in "Go Your Own Way".

Great Read

What We Can't Have (The Parker Sisters #4) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Mason Parker is seventeen years old and has been keeping a secret from her family. The boy next door has caught her eye but the timing is all wrong. Mason and Justin are faces with a dilemma being as their relationship can end up dividing both families. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

Great Narration

Spin off from the Parkers and this is another one that is good. Secrets kept usually don’t come out right, as she learns. Jealousy, dissension in the family. Narration was great, and added to the story, well done and enjoyable. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
