About this listen

When COVID-19 hit the United States, New York governor Andrew Cuomo was thrust onto the national stage, hailed around the globe for his leadership. Alongside him every step of the way, Melissa DeRosa quickly became a household name. In her riveting memoir, DeRosa details her journey as a young woman in politics rising to the highest levels of government, writing with raw honesty and vulnerability about the personal challenges she faced—a failing marriage, infertility, death threats, misogyny—while navigating unprecedented professional landmines along the way. DeRosa gives listeners a front-row seat to the white-knuckle ride from the epicenter of the deadliest pandemic in US history to the never-before-told story behind the #MeToo scandal that rocked a nation and brought down a governor.

Perfect for fans of Huma Abedin's Both/And, Marie Yovanovitch's Lessons from the Edge, Katie Couric's Going There, and Katy Tur's Rough Draft, What's Left Unsaid is a powerful story of resilience in the face of adversity. DeRosa's unvarnished political memoir provides fascinating, behind-the-scenes access to the inner workings of state and US government during one of the most consequential periods in our nation's history—bringing listeners into room after room where decisions are made, hardball politics unfold, and crises play out.

Mind blown

I thought I knew the facts, but was mistaken. I am shocked and saddened by the railroading of Cuomo’s team, never again will I trust the news without verification. I hope De Rosa comes back with a vengeance, we need fighters now more than ever. Being from NJ I watched the daily briefings and was so impressed with the coverage of the Covid crisis. I hope there is an opportunity to get this group of incredible people back together again to fight the good fight!💗

Honesty

I loved this book. I admire Cuomo and didn’t know much about DeRosa until I read it. She uncovered so many unanswered questions that I had after Cuomo resigned. I truly hope they are back in office again someday! At the very least, I hope Melissa is successful at whatever she does next.

So truthful and revealing

What a treat…everything I could have asked for. The truth behind the scenes of those selfless dedicated people who led us through the pandemic and then to hear how they went through hell due to false accusations and political rivalries with hidden agendas. The detailed vindicating evidence was refreshing closure for the reader. Would have been nice to hear of future plans. Not a fan of Letitia James! Go Andrew Coumo tribe. Definitely a come back story….

Being in NJ, I lived the COVID disaster each and every day. Governor Cuomo, Melissa DeRosa, and the rest of the team got of through each and every day. This memoir is raw, breathtaking, and gut wrenching. Thank you for being so open, sharing your experiences, and your emotions.

What's Left Unsaid SHOULD be SAID

I got this 3 days ago and could not put it down. I listened to the first 10 hours straight, captivated by the details and the stress and strain that position put on your life. During COVID-19, Andrew Cuomo was my go-to each morning. I admired his honesty and direct approach. I had no idea what was going on behind the scenes. I respected Melissa DeRosa on air and it was quite clear that she deserved every single accolade bestowed upon her. She did way more than her job description (in my opinion), always prepared and direct. It was heartwrenching to listen to her account of the last few months, how she was abused, and how she came out on top. MDR thank you, thank you, so much for sharing your journey, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. I am confident that your parents, family, and close friends join me in letting you know how proud we are of you. YOU ROCK!!

Vulnerability and honesty

“Today is Saturday…” kept me going during the pandemic. I worked alone as an unofficial essential, required to be at my job every day, so I could not wait to 10 AM (mtn time) to get the updates from NY. It was nice to learn what went behind the scene.
I appreciate the details, honesty and vulnerability in this book.

A disturbing account from a true trailblazer

As a New Yorker who read and listened to every transcript made available in the case against Andrew Cuomo, none of this came as a surprise. All it did was anger me all over again. It reminded me that a handful of people were able to undo the vote of millions simply for their own personal and political gain. This book shows how fragile MeToo truly was, and how only a corrupt few individuals were able to upend a movement, and potentially ruin the credibility of true victims everywhere. Boylan and Bennett’s actions will be felt for decades.

As for the press and the AG… There is a reason people don’t trust government and the press. To understand why, look no further than the case against Andrew Cuomo. The chief law enforcement officer for the state is expected to uphold the law. When they don’t, it raises ethical questions and makes room for corruption allegations. And when the press blatantly turns a blind eye? It destroys journalistic integrity everywhere.

In the end, I found myself brought tears. Not because of the injustice of it all. But because of what Melissa DeRosa had to endure. She’s been a champion for women her entire life. Despite what she might feel like, that didn’t go unnoticed by those who actually matter. The loud minority are just that—the minority. I hope to see great things from MDR—a true trailblazer—in the future.

Resilience

I am so grateful for the leadership, the work it took in personal suffering in pain. These people went through to provide the guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic. I live in Illinois and it touched me personally, as my husband died in a nursing home in Illinois in April 20 20 but I felt comforted in the leadership of Governor Cuomo‘s administration and thank them for their service and again thank you Melissa for everything you have gone through may God bless you

Melissa’s passion as she reads this book.

The truth comes out. I always figured that politics and the enemies are who took down the greatest governor of our times! This is a great book showing the reader the behind the scenes look at government and politics. She reads with passion and conviction. I could not stop listening. I highly recommend this book!
