About this listen
Marriage is the union of two people who arrive at the altar toting some surprisingly large luggage. Often it gets opened right there on the honeymoon, sometimes it waits for the week after. The Bible calls it sin and understanding its influence can make all the difference for a man and woman who are building a life together. When Sinners Say "I Do" is about encountering the life-transforming power of the gospel in the unpredictable journey of marriage.
Dave's writing style embraces the reader as he speaks honestly, and sometimes humorously, about sin and the power of the gospel to overcome it. He opens the delightful truth of God s word and encourages the reader to see more clearly the glorious picture of what God does when sinners say "I do."

INTOLERABLE NARRATION
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK ON CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE I have read, and I have read many. My husband prefers audio books to reading so, of course, I went to Audible. 45 seconds in, I knew that there was no way neither my husband or myself would be able to listen to. Her narration goes from sounding like she's in a tunnel to almost computerized to her very unusual cadence, inflection, and tone. it makes it very hard to catch the meaning of the author when so many sentences are read in a manner that makes them sound like questions. In our Marriage class at church, we heard the same thing from another couple.
We ended up having to go to GooglePlay and ordering the audio book there. That version is narrated by the author, Dave Harvey.

Worst audio quality recording.
The Spotify audiobook is narrated by Dave Harvey. It is of significant better quality. This is the first audible book I've listened to at 2x speed, and it sounded normal. The audio quality is terrible and monotone. The chapter on sex (9), the narrator is clearer sheepish to be reading it. Chapter 10, every other sentence is rerecorded, so the volume fluctuates substantially.
Review of Content: Chapters 1-6 provide basic premarital thoughts and commentary that center on the premise of recognizing we are sinners entering into a marriage. Chapter 7-10 are much more impactful at explaing what this means for a married couple. I thought the Chapter on Sex (9), provided commentary I had never heard. The 10th Chapter provides insightful thoughts on what happens if your spouse gets disabled or a dehabilitating disease, which I had not talked about with my fiance before.
