Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Chilling Tale of America’s Darkest Secrets
This story gave me goosebumps. I had heard of Belle Gunness before, but this book dives so much deeper into her chilling crimes and twisted psyche. The descriptions of the farm and the grim discoveries were vivid and unsettling. The author does an amazing job of balancing historical context with a gripping narrative. It’s eerie to imagine how she got away with so much for so long. If you’re fascinated by true crime and infamous figures, this will leave you stunned and thinking about it long after.

A Gripping Dive into a Notorious True Crime Case
This audiobook offers a chilling exploration of Belle Gunness’s life and the horrifying murders connected to her infamous farm. The detailed narrative captures the dark and unsettling nature of the case while providing insights into the societal context of the time. Bruce Cannon’s narration enhances the eerie atmosphere, keeping me hooked from start to finish. While the book is well-researched, some sections felt a bit repetitive, slightly detracting from the flow. It’s an engrossing listen for true crime enthusiasts intrigued by historical mysteries and psychological analysis.

So creepy
This book takes you deep into the eerie world of Belle Gunness, one of the most infamous female serial killers. The way it recreates the isolated setting of early 1900s rural America gave me chills, and the insights into Belle’s psychology were both fascinating and unsettling. I loved the historical details and the theories about her fate—it really kept me hooked.

This audiobook delves into the chilling story of Belle Gunness with meticulous detail and a narrative that keeps you hooked. I appreciated how it explored not only the grisly crimes but also the psychological and societal factors that may have shaped such a dark figure. The narrator’s tone was perfectly suited to the eerie and unsettling subject matter, making the story even more impactful. While some speculative sections could have been tighter, the book overall delivers a fascinating account of one of history’s most infamous femme fatales. Captivating
This is the second book in the Shadows of the Past series, a historical narrative, and true crime mystery, about the case of Belle Gunness, one of the most notorious female serial killers. The historical research is captivating, and grippingly chilling! Bruce Cannon did an excellent job bringing these characters, and this story to life. Belle Gunnes
I really like true crime stories. I grew up listening to Paul Harvey’s The Rest of the Story, watching Unsolved Mysteries, and The Forensic Files. I envisioned the book would go along those lines. It starts off well. It is clear the author did excellent research into the crimes for Belle Gunness, a notorious serial killer. I found the insight into the killer’s psychological profile interesting. However, the book quickly became repetitive and drawn out. I received a free copy of the audiobook, and am voluntarily leaving my review.
