Publisher's summary

The Florida Industrial School for Boys, which in later years was Dozier School for Boys existed for over a century in the panhandle town of Marianna. Boys from throughout the state went there to be reformed. Early on, some residents were orphans as young as five-years-old who were placed in custodial care.

Later boys went there for smoking, skipping school and listening to Rock and Roll. Over time, boys who committed more serious offenses were remanded to custody. A constant throughout the institution's existence was the cruel punishment exacted upon the boys. They were maimed, molested and mistreated. This book is a reaction in prose and poetry to the atrocities that happened at Dozier School for Boys.
