About this listen

Did you know that John Adams had to coax Thomas Jefferson into writing the Declaration of Independence? It's true. The shy Virginia statesman refused at first, but then went on to author one of our nation's most important and inspiring documents. The third US president, Jefferson was also an architect, inventor, musician, farmer, and - what is certainly the most troubling aspect of his life - a slave owner. Finally, here's a biography for kids that unveils the many facets of this founding father's remarkable and complicated life.

This book is loaded with great information if you can sift through the writers facts and speculations on how the president lived. Take notice of the facts and in separate out the agenda that is trying to be pushed. I do like the fact that I was able to tell my kids about the parts that were speculatory and that helps them understand this happens. Don't play for your children without guidance. I found it helpful to stop and replay while explaining these discrepancies to my kids. You have to analyse everything these days and this is one more case

Manipulation at its finest
