About this listen
Look around and you'll notice...the world is covered with jagged edges.
People are broken all over the place. Places are broken all around us. But we were made for better than this: We were made for shalom. We were made to be whole - and to make things whole.
This is an empowering journey for those who hunger for a better life, for a better world...for those who want to plant and grow the seeds of restoration in themselves and their communities...and for those who want to see the jagged edges made smooth as we move from brokenness to wholeness.

Story
Let's be honest: the life you're leading isn't the one you've always dreamt of. And maybe the person you've become isn't who you imagined you'd be. Sure, you can work longer, love harder, and eat better. You can scrub the surface of your life until it gleams. But that won't address the fact that you've somehow lost sight of who you really are. Working from the core message of Ephesians 1:11, Jo Saxton implores women to reject mistaken identities. Relying on personal stories from her own life, she identifies key scenarios where identities develop that are not true to God's vision, demonstrating the importance of knowing one's name, embracing the gifts you've been given, confronting body issues, managing seasons of depression and grief, and letting go of perfectionism.

From a challenge of faith to a means of transformation: Did God really say you couldn't eat from any tree in the garden? This seed of doubt planted so long ago bears the fruit of fear on some level every day - the idea that our actions could ruin something beautiful and God might not have control over things. In What Women Fear, acclaimed writer and speaker Angie Smith admits, "Fear is a major part of my testimony," as she talks openly about significant struggles she has experienced. Giving a voice to the problem, she says, "I truly believe every single one of us struggles with some type of fear...."

Story
Most of us know what it's like to wait for God to change our circumstances. But whether we're waiting for physical healing, an emotional breakthrough, or better relationships, waiting is something we usually try to avoid. Why? Because waiting is painful and hard. The truth is it's also inevitable. In Still Waiting, Ann Swindell explores the depths of why God wants us to wait by chronicling her own compelling story of waiting for healing from an incurable condition.

You don't have to keep striving for freedom - instead, you can live in the freedom you already have in Christ. In this audiobook, Rebekah Lyons walks you through her journey of releasing stress, anxiety, and worry to uncover the peace that comes from Jesus Christ. Have you bought into the lie? So many of us do. We measure our worth by what others think of us. We compare and strive, living our lives for the approval of others. Pressure rises, fear and anxiety creep in, and we hustle to keep up.

Story
There is a big difference between being set free and living free. How do I know what to do with my life? How do I hear God's voice? Maybe the answer is easier than we think. When God led the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land, He gave them a cloud to follow. He led them in an intimately personal, ever-present way one next step at a time. He led them without revealing the whole picture because he wanted them to follow by faith.

Story
When you’re in the midst of suffering, you want answers for the unanswerable, resolutions to the unresolvable. But there is a pathway through this suffering. It’s not easy, but God will use it to lead you toward healing. This path is called lament. In the midst of your darkest times, you will discover that lament leads you back to a place of hope - not because lamenting does anything magical, but because God sings a louder song than suffering ever could, a song of renewal and restoration.

Story
There is no one whose brokenness is too broken for God. We know this is true for our friends when we want to encourage them. Yet, when it comes to the places of out innermost sense of regret, we often wonder if it is really true that God can work all things together for good for those who love Him. Angie Smith is one who was quick to encourage a friend, but struggled to believe that God could truly make something spectacular out of her brokenness and disappointments.

Story
In Out of Sorts, Sarah Bessey, award-winning blogger and author of Jesus Feminist, helps us grapple with core Christian issues using a mixture of beautiful storytelling and biblical teaching. As she candidly shares her wrestlings with core issues - such as who Jesus is, what place the church has in our lives, how to disagree yet remain within a community, and how to love the Bible for what it is rather than what we want it to be - she teaches us how to walk courageously through our own tough questions.

Story
Why does the Bible contain so many stories of hurting people? Though their situations vary, their conditions don't. They have nowhere to turn. Yet before their eyes stands a never-say-die Galilean who majors in stepping in when everyone else steps out. Lucado reminds us that the purpose of these portraits isn't to tell us what Jesus did-but rather to remind us what Jesus still does.

Amazing
This is one of the most significant books I have ever read or listened to in my Christian life. Thank you Steve Wiens for your insight and openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit while writing this book. There were so many times during the listening to/reading of this book that I felt as if God was speaking directly to me. I can truthfully say that I will most likely listen to this book many times over the next few months and years. Now I am being challenged to go into my Promised Land leaving that which is familiar and comfortable to a place that God will show me. It's terrifying and exciting at the same time. Thank you so much for being the spiritual impetus of getting me up out the door toward my Promised Land.

Msg too diluted
Author is a scholar of Bible and Hebrew derivatives of words. Book seems like part biography part advice. There were no “ha ha” moments. The questions raised are meaningful, but their answers were not succinct.

Excellent book
I loved this book! I don't consider myself a very religious person even though I have studied theology quite a bit and became a non-denominational Interfaith minister. This book taught me something about Christianity, about stories from the Bible and about how it all applies to my life today and those of the people I know around me. It seems to me it doesn't matter whether you consider yourself a religious person, believe in God or not, the take away from this book is life-changing. I listened to this audiobook through the first time and I plan to listen to it again, stopping at each chapter to answer the questions and reflect. I will be recommending this book to all my friends, those who believe and even those who don't.

So good
I love the surfboard story it so accurately describes me! I'll miss out on fun because I was too concerned with the way I looked. This book works like a mirror at mall, it lets you see your true self, even flaws, but in a gentle light that says "it's ok you just might need a different size".
