About this listen

All families have secrets, but what Avery doesn’t know might try to kill her.

The day Avery Belmont was born, her father disappeared. Shortly after, her mother stole her away to Detroit, far away from the secrets buried deep in Shady Creek. But when her estranged grandmother dies, Avery is forced to return and face the rumors that she’s a witch, making her wish she’d never come back - until Drew Montgomery gives her a reason to stay.

Drew knows things no one else knows. Things about Avery, about her family’s past, and about what really happened to her father. However, the price for information may be too high, as getting close to the striking yet caustic Drew starts to have deadly consequences, and living with the lies may be safer than uncovering the truth.

I liked this book more than I thought I would.

I really like this book and I enjoyed the story but the performance is only passable. There was moments when they would fade or lower the volume so it wouldn’t be too loud but they didn’t do the best job of it. Overall I do recommend this audio book.

Wicked Decent

This was a good book, and kept me interested through to the end. It has a dark twist to it as the mc begins to figure out secrets in her family. Chile did a good job with the narration.

Small towns....full of secrets.

Avery is a teenager who has to uproot her life and move to a little town called Shady Creek. Her grandmother left the house to her mother and they move in the middle
of Avery’s senior year. What Avery expected for the first day of school
doesn’t happen. She is welcomed into a popular group but things don’t always to be as they appear in small towns.
Cue in Drew, he’s a very handsome and mysterious bad guy that shows up. Drew likes to feed Avery with bits and pieces of her past and he’s certainly a dark and brooding guy. Is he there to actually help Avery or is he there to hurt her? Pick up this book to find out!!

This book is intense and it certainly has its dark moments but for me it wasn’t scary. It was a intense and enjoyable book for me. I listened to the audiobook and I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator. She was the perfect voice for the MC.

Dark and Twisted!

Wicked Descent by Scarlett Kol is a very dark and twisted story. Narration was done by Chloe Parks and her talent is amazing. I never had to guess at which character was talking.
Avery, the FMC moves to Shady Creek upon the death of her grandmother. It's just been her and her mom her whole life. She isn't happy because it's her senior year and she had to leave all of her friends. Another person "moves" to Shady Creek about the same time she does and that's when it gets all kinds of dark. Enter Drew, the MMC. You can just feel it through the narration that there just isn't something right about him. Bennett is the FMC's crush who is very concerned about Avery and her dealings with Drew.
Honestly this isn't my type of book, BUT for a dark and twisted YA novel its well written and I did enjoy it. On that note its not a book I personally would listen to again. I would recommend it is this is what a person was asking for.

Dark And Entertaining

This is a great story unlike anything I’ve listened to before. Avery moves back to the town she was born in and meets someone who turns her world upside down. She finds out she has magical powers and has to deal with mean girl drama while sorting everything out. Let’s just say, the story gets dark not in a scary way but our Avery is definitely towing the line of good and evil and darkness is every where. I put the pieces together long before she did but I still couldn’t wait to see how it ended. The narrator was great and embodied Avery perfectly.

Per my request, I received a free review copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are solely my own and were not influenced in any way.
