Wir lernen, warum die Deutschen so frei über Sex sprechen, warum sie so sehr von Spiegel Online besessen sind und warum sie alle davon träumen, nackt in einem See aus Apfelsaftschorle zu schwimmen. Am Ende von Adam Fletchers Liebesbrief an Deutschland bleibt nur noch zu sagen: "Alles klar!"

Hard to believe that this is a translation from an English original -- the German is lively and idiomatic, and the audio performance by Otto Strecker ist einfach hervorragend. The one giveaway is the dry, self-ironizing humor, which could only have been conceived in the mind of a Brit. This book ranks with the very best of the genre of lovingly exasperated reflections by expatriates on the cultural peculiarities and foibles of their adoptive homeland (Tim Parks' _Italian Neighbors_ comes to mind). My only regret is that it wasn't "...in 100 steps" rather than in 50.

Ich lebe selbst schon seit laengerem im ausland und kann somit deutschland auch mit etwas abstand betrachten.
Ich fand den titel sehr ansprechend und fuer das kleine geld dacht ich mir kann wenig schief gehen.
Mit hat dieses buch mehr spass gemacht als erhofft und es ist in vielen aspekten so erschreckend wahr, aber sehr amuesant und unterhaltsam. Empfehle ich sehr!!

A beautifully written and narrated book. The 50 steps describe all the things that perplex newcomers in Germany. If you have lived in Germany (or are going to Germany), read this book. The narrator is great and the book is (en)light(ening) and kind.
