About this listen

Negro Bill Canyon is a popular hike near Arches National Park. This short, (15 minute read) is the story of William Grandstaff who came to this area in 1877. A former slave, he did his best to stay under the radar. Yet 100 years after his death, he has been at the center of two controversies----in two states! Seems like the town would post a historical marker at the trailhead that explains how the name (albeit outdated) came about, and thereby preserving the history. The marker could even include the fact that the NAACP considers "Negro" to be non offensive.

Not sure how I feel about the virtual voice. The voice itself is fine, but the lack of intuitively understood places to pause and change inflections was a bit distracting.
