About this listen
The answer, unfortunately, isn’t easy. But among the closest, in practice, is the concept of general ability mental tests. They have the advantages of being affordable for the test administrator, and very fast to administer for hundreds to thousands of potential candidates. Additionally, many of these questions are, as per the test makers, relatively free from cultural and other forms of biases.
The effectiveness, both short and long-term of these entry barriers can be the subject of another book. Here we start with the reality of the situation as they are and aim to uncover some of the tips and tricks to make it the easiest for the aspirant aiming to crack these mental ability tests.
One of the quickest such tests is the Wonderlic test, and other tests also exist along similar veins. These tests do not require specific cultural or educational background, but a baseline is a sure unwritten requirement. Foreign speakers also should brush up their English knowledge if they are lacking in it (despite the fact, as per the author’s experience, many are overqualified). It is very important to know what specifically will be tested and to practice at least a few times such mock tests. It is to be noted that sometimes that might not be possible depending on the rules imposed by the job giver. In educational sectors, we also have these kinds of tests, and they often have the same fundamentals.
Best of luck to the aspirants. Hope they find the book useful!
Happy reading!
