About this listen

This book explores characters' agendas, from Sansa's secret schemes to Arya's ultimate goal. What is Cersei's true fear? What do trout or golden roses symbolize? Is the show a feminist success or a male playground? This book answers all these and more, revealing the enigmas and surprises hidden deep within the series. Martin's interviews, homages, and past works hint at the pattern he's chosen, while the classic pattern of the hero's and heroine's journey indicate the path of each protagonist and their ultimate destinies. From the Norse myth of ice covering all the world and the winter of wolves, to the War of the Roses that inspired much of the plot, the Game of Thrones is revealed secret by secret, including how it may be won.

Pleasant narration voice in most instances and it provided some good sequencing and structure to the series.

Some good clarifications.

So many facts. Sheds some light on characters but still so many too remember

Understanding the "Game of Thrones"

A good essay but suffers from being dated and the narrator while with strong performance distracted from the work for me due to mispronunciation of names (kept reading Aemon and Aegon as Emon and Egon). I know it's silly but after hearing the likes of Roy Dotrice narrating ASOIAF you can't help but compare. In fact, as far as this epic is concerned, in my opinion, American accents just don't go with it.

Needs a narrator with British accent

Although a lot of this is depicted in "Winter is Coming" it was still a refreshing take on "A Song Of Ice and Fire" This is definitely worth a listen. I found it to be very entertaining.

Entertaining and creative
