About this listen

I'm starting over at 43 and found the perfect nannying job.
Too bad my hot new boss is my fated mate.

When my mate of twenty years started growing distant,
My best friend offered to give him advice.
Little did I know she'd end up pregnant with his baby.
I left Portland and my daycare job behind,
Ready to start anew in my friend's pack down in Eugene.
The Glenwood pack gave me a warm welcome
Especially Kane, once my wolf caught sight of him.
The ruggedly handsome cop stood in the doorway,
A single dad holding a tiny newborn in a baby carrier.
A woman had dropped the shifter baby off at the precinct,
Making him a father in an instant.
With a schedule like his, he needed a nanny,
And I was new in town and needed a job.
It was the perfect arrangement
Until I woke up in his arms.
But that's not the only danger on Glenwood territory.
My little dream job ends up becoming a nightmare.
I'm thrown in the middle of a war between packs,
But my only combat experience is with screaming kids.
It's time to put on my big girl pants and jump in.
This precious baby and my only chance at fated love are on the line.

Steamy shifter love scenes and an HEA inside! No cheating or cliffhanger in this standalone romance. Listeners 18+.

Kane and Melissa

Kane Glenwood, the local sheriff, just got the surprise of his life when a previous lover arrived and dropped off his son Adrian and then just left. Kane knows nothing about being a father so he has to find a nanny and fast! Melissa is a former daycare worker, divorced and new to the pack and she's just agreed to become nanny to Adrian. Melissa is starting over in a new town, with a new pack, and she's determined to hone her instincts, to listen to them, and use them to avoid being led astray. but she can't help her developing feelings for Kane and Adrian.

Kane is a devoted father who wants the best for his son and as he watches Melissa treat the baby like he's her own he can't help falling a little in love with her too.

Well, they do say sons take after their fathers so it's not too surprising that Melissa fell for both her boss and his son. This is a well-written story about some interesting well-drawn characters. It's narrated by Elle Sonali who does a wonderful job bringing all the emotions to the fore!

Nanny

Love the narration of Elle Sonali

Kane is a policeman and a werewolf shifter. Who believes he will not meet his fated mate. But he likes female company and one is Sherry. While finishing a shift Sherry appears at the station with a baby in a carrier saying Kane is the father and Adrian the baby is safer with him. His werewolf he knows its the the baby. Sherry disappears. He is shocked but he knows is his pack Glenwood will help him anyway they can.
Melissa is a new member of the Glenwood pack, who left her husband after she found out he was cheating with her best friend . With her daughter at college, Melissa finds a new pack and a wonderful friend in Dawn. Melissa needs a job and Kane a nanny. When the two meet, its fireworks and both know they have met their fate mates.
But Sherry is found dead and another pack is out revenge. These two have to cover come angst and drama.

We have angst, action, romance and heat.

The Glenwood Pack sticks together

I enjoy listening to this series. I prefer at least dual narration, but this is still an easy listen. I love that Melissa wants to take care of herself but once she knows what Kane is to her, I want her to acknowledge it. His past should not matter that much. I love how Kane goes all in, immediately upon meeting Adrian. As usual the Glenwood Pack sticks together and comes together when needed. I enjoy these books.

Like Others in the Series, with a Sweet Twist

I've read or listened to most books in this series, and the author certainly has a particular formula. In this case, it's not a bad thing. The formula as I see it: unexpected faded mates find each other, they fall into bed rather quickly, one or both have an issue with commitment despite the fated bond, and something dangerous happens to bring them together and truly appreciate what they could have together.

As someone who's over 40 myself, I have a soft spot for romances featuring older couples. The hero is 43, and I think the heroine just turned 40—this is an audiobook, so it's easy to lose track of details like this without having an easy way to go back to double-check. She's new to the area, having escaped a long-term emotionally abusive marriage that caused her much pain. She's ready to start a new life, but she's certainly not interested in getting involved with a man again terribly soon. Of course, when you discover your fated mate, all bets are off! The heroine is such a sweetheart. You could see how her ex could walk all over her if he so desired.

She takes on the job of nanny to the hero's newly arrived, previously unknown infant son. The babe was literally dropped off at the hero's place of work, with the distraught mother telling him the child was his and needed his protection. Neither the hero nor heroine fully appreciates what the mother has gone through to come to this point and why she has decided to give up her only child to the man who fathered him after a one-night stand. I loved the absolutely adorable scenes of this sweet young baby with both his new daddy and the nanny. They were so heart-touching and sweet. I adored the scene where the baby shifted for the first time when he was quite young: He goes from being a sweet little human cherub in a stroller to a little wolf cub! Proud Papa had never heard of a baby shifting that young and was looking forward to letting his alpha know. (Which I think the author forgot to include during all the intensity of the last chapters.)

As I stated in the formula above, this couple isn't quite sure if they should be together even though they both sense they are fated mates. Among his other transgressions, her ex cheated on her, and when she learns of the hero's past—he’s a bit of a player—she doesn't believe she will be able to trust him to be faithful … or that if he remains so, that he will be happy with just her. I found it interesting how the heroine also had a new magical skill awakened to life—and one that came in very handy as the book went along. It's nice to think that even as we age, we can develop new, even powerful, skills. If you've read other books in the series, you'll be familiar with the general flow of this book, but this story has such sweet moments between the child and his caregivers that it puts this book a cut above the other ones I've listened to in this series. Highly recommended.
