About this listen

First published three years ago before the print edition of Women Who Run with the Wolves made publishing history, this original audio edition quickly became an underground best seller. For it's insights into the inner lives of women, it established Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes as one of the most important voices of our time in the fields of Jungian psychology, myth, and women's mysteries.

Drawing from her work as a psychoanalyst and cantadora (keeper of old stories), Dr. Estes uses myths and folktales to illustrate how societies systematically strip away the feminine spirit. Through an exploration into the nature of the wild woman archetype, Dr. Estes helps listeners rediscover and free their own wild nature.

Guess I know what "Abridged" means now....

Would you listen to Women Who Run with the Wolves again? Why?

Only if I could get the "entire" book on audio, didn't realize this wasn't the whole book

What did you like best about this story?

Love her storytelling!

What about Clarissa Pinkola Estes’s performance did you like?

The way she tells stories

Any additional comments?

I'm REALLY disappointed that this was so short - is there another way to get the entire book on audio?

Loved it

This audio was much easier to listen to than trying to read the book, which I found very hard going. The narration is perfect and the stories brilliant. I loved it.

Insightful

Her insights are applicable and the folklore she interprets helps the message stick. It's short but packed.

Wonderful but short

This was a great listen. Ms. Estes is a wonderful narrator and her stories and interpretations of them are unique and enlightening. The only draw back is the length. This is a very shortened version of her original book. They were not kidding when they say abridged. That said, I would still recommend this audio book.

Very cool

Really loved the story and I've been wanting to read woman who runs with Wolves for a long time. Much shorter than expected. But overall pretty good.
